I think you're doomed.

You've asked a very vague question with very few answers, and none of the answers are correct anyways.

Probably. Unless I find a winning lottery on the ground...

I like the 2 that is local but they refuse to move off of the 15k price tag and I prefer rwd over fwd anyway.

So you want a RWD, manual transmission, American Mazda that gets 27+ MPG but has a V8 and all for under some vague $x amount with no rust and in po-dunk nearly-WeeVee?

At 45,000 miles per year (180 miles per day is what you said, so times 5 days times 50 weeks) at 20mpg = 2,250 gallons @ $4 a gallon = $9000 in gas. 25MPG = $7200. 30MPG = $6000.

So the real answer is buy a 3cyl Geo Metro and save all of your gas money to buy a Mustang.

Actually, no. I didn't say it had to be a V8. I said earlier V8's wouldn't make the MPG cut. What I am saying though that seems to be lost I don't have 30k to buy what I want, I can probably get a loan for about 10k, but it depends on what year and for how long of a term, or the variable parts of car buying without a bank roll in hand. It would have to be at least a 5yr loan. After school ends in a year, the remaining loan note would be paid off in a year or so. See why this stinks? I know my Dakota COULD make it, but I'd rather not chance it. I limp it along already.

PS- Rust free is easily available here. You just have to have an owner that washed it a few times in its lifetime before you get it.

In reply to Ranger50:

What about an LS1 f-body? They get that kind of mileage and are on the bottom of a depreciation curve. Buy one outright and if anything ever goes wrong with the car you can probably sell the engine/trans for what you paid for the whole car.

There was never anything specific. I've looked at everything from the 2 to a Miata to a Mustang to Fiesta's to everything in between. The only real hard item is the price, but again, it's flexible to a point, as is the MPG's. It was just more of a rant on trying to find what I want to proclaim to the masses here in the forums as mine.

I don't care, I'm going to recommend them to you like I do for everyone else.

94-97 Honda Accord LX 5-speed. Feed it gas and oil, and it won't ever die. EVER. Wagons can hold lots of stuff, Coupe if you're the only one ever in it, Sedan for everything else

99-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. Most useful, all around reasonable thing I've ever owned.

Between those two vehicles, I owned various models in both for about 4 years combined. That's saying a LOT, as I'm VERY car ADD. I hardly ever own any one car for more than 6 months.

Take a pick.
