Sorry I didn't make it this weekend, my wife was not enthusiastic about being left with the new baby all day after my first week back at work.

I brought mini-me to the car show (and not the Javelin) and we had a blast. After going back home and getting her to bed, I took the Javelin to the cruise proper. Even did some laps with the GoPro on the car! It did great. Unfortunately, I think I done broke it driving home. Nothing bad, but the carb is acting up, again, and the brakes are noisy, and the front end is clunking. Le sigh. 
So I just heard through the grapevine that while the Suddards have foresaken the Portland area for Idaho of all places, the wise and wonderful Wimbush is coming to Portland. Perhaps we can get some local GRM'ers together to share a beverage with her (assuming she has time/inclination)?

What about autocross on the 15th?
I'm in for the autocross on the 15th. I'll scream if I end up swapping the WRX for a (whatever) before I get to autocross it...
This should be embarrassing; I've never driven the WRX hard, haven't autocrossed in about three years, never autocrossed an AWD car or a turbo... I figure I'll be off-line, off-boost, in the wrong gear, and lurching around like a buffoon all day. Good thing you guys do more runs than the SCCA; maybe I can develop a clue

You'll do fine, especially if you remember to actually shift into 2nd gear. It never ceases to amaze me the guys that roll around at 30MPH in 1st on the limiter all run.

BTW, do you know the stance on passengers? With the SCCA you need some history, and the PCA doesn't know me from Adam, so I can't complain if they don't want me taking anyone for a ride...
I have a friend who's never been to an autocross who might be coming out, and I'm obviously not chasing FTD to worry about the extra weight...

Our insurance for 2013 states no passengers unless either the driver or the passenger is a listed instructor on our policy. You friend can ride with an instructor. Sorry, but them's the rules.

No worries; that's why I asked! I won't make him any promises.
I still think he ought to just bring his GTI out and give it a try, but you know how it is trying to get folks who still think that any form of racing is a "big deal" comfortable with the idea.
Maybe once he's seen one he'll be more amenable.

There's an oil leak I'm trying to nail down and it doesn't quite run well enough to autocross. I'm going to replace the ITB's with smaller ones (go from 45mm to 40mm) and see if I can take another run at tuning it, but that won't happen very quickly.
Need to work on getting the CSX ready to sell. Know anyone that wants an Autocross ready FWD Shadow turbo that needs some cosmetic work? (before you ask, if it was road legal, I might consider running the CSX, but I have to fix the gauges and heater core first and those are on the task list for this weekend)
