Spotted a 4-door "Saratoga" locally. From the rear (couldn't see the front) is looks EXACTLY like a "Windsor" or "New Yorker". Can anyone here confirm they are functionally the same car? I can't tell if it's a '61 or a '60 but the tail fins and the taillight lenses look like a '60.
I have spent the better part of two or three years looking for a '60 New Yorker in the hope of building a 300F clone-ish thing. I'm not interested in a '61. The idea that there's one less than three miles from my house staggered me. Now I have to go back and see if I can bother the owner...
Edit: According to Wikipedia the car IS a lesser model than the New Yorker and 1960 was the last year of that production series.
Oh, Crap. And we just had our Annual Profit Sharing from work last week. I've got cash.
Oh, E36M3. Yahoo Maps says the address is 1.88 miles from my house.
Berkeley.
So did you bring it home yet?
I'll be waiting in the Build thread section...
Yea a Sara is a lower trim level. Mechanically the same as the other Chrysler models at the time. Long Ram motors look really good under the hood. Or take a page from Herb McCandless and put a late model Hemi in it and drive it everywhere.

In reply to Appleseed:
i think that's a '61 from the angled headlights. That must be a New Yorker. The '60 headlights were parallel with the ground and the taillight lenses are different;

This photo is real similar except the one in question is white.
Stopped by and talked to the owner. It's running. Hasn't been registered since '10. He's basically the second owner. 383 2-barrel. Body is fair. Interior is shot. Chrome looks good. He's got replacement windshield (didn't see cracks but I didn't look real hard) and fabric for headliner/seats and weatherstripping. I'll try to get pics at some point. He said we can "have a conversation" about it later. We swapped contact information. When I told him that I had a garage full of motorcycles I needed to get rid of he asked, "Do you have an Indian?"
Sounds like he might be one of us.

That is just beautiful!
And I think you've just helped identify the 'mystery wreck" in a friend's photos:

That certainly always helps! Good luck with it.
Gees, That green one totally caught my eye. Beautiful. It just has an old ball old school cool factor that is off the charts in my book.
As Austin is becoming a gridlocked traffic nightmare, a big cruiser like this is looking more and more attractive.

Yah, that green one is dead gorgeous.
Okay, so now I've found another one, but it has no gas tank. I'm thinking 20 gallon fuel cell might be cheaper than a repro tank. Anything I need to worry about installing such an animal?
Fuel level senders can be a bit tricky to get working right, but the added safety is pretty nice.

DO IT. Seriously. Those things are awesome. I've lusted after a 60's Imperial for what seems like forever...but the "lesser" Chryslers are nearly as awesome and considerably cheaper in decent shape.
Brandy new tank is ~$369.

Yeah, I'm finding fuel cells for a lot less than $370. What I'm concerned about is trading the space savings of the original tank against the cost and safety of the fuel cell. I have no idea if there are industry standards for fuel cells or if one brand is better than others?
My wagon needs a fuel cell, so I'm going to watch this very carefully.
What's wrong with the original tank? Is it totally rotted out, or just full of gunge? They can be cleaned up and reused, one place that will do the work is http://www.gastankrenu.com/
