What is the general consensus on these cars? I have seen a few under $1500 in the philly region as well.
that my friend is not an Audi coupe, that's a urquattro.
As for the CGT'ss, I have had a few and also have a urq.
In a quick response to the original question, they handle very well but are slightly underpowered. 115 hp stock, an NG n/a upgrade would get you 130 or a10v turbo, 160. Power adders are very expensive and hard to find if you want to modify a stock motor though. 034 motorsports is your friend for power upgrades. A simple solution to the power is a turbo 5 cylinder from a later 5000 or a 20V motor from a 200 quattro.
Just clicked on the link and see it's an 83, which means a few other things to consider, the front lower ball joints are hard to find, and the fuse box is an underdash unit that is prone to problems, as noted in his ad. And I almost forgot, the power window units are virtually impossible to find and prone to failure. The good is the bolt circle is 4X100 instead of 4X108 like the later coupes

Technically, it is not an Ur Quattro, because it is not a Quattro. It is FWD rather than AWD... still relentlessly fun though!

I think he was talking about the pic above his post, not the ad in the original post. I could be wrong though.
Here's what can reasonably be done to a Coupe GT to make it a fun but not terribly powerful car: My infamous Coupe GT
