In case anyone wants to watch something other than Nascar this weekend.
I may be the only one that thinks a V8 Supercar enduro night race at Abu Dhabi might be freaking awesome if they turned off some of the lights.
I was just thinking that it must be hell driving under those lights but awesome to watch from the stands.
sexy, im catching the last bit of it, but recording the whole thing later, thanks for the heads up. they need to bring them things here one time. I'd go to whichever track they attended.
How would they do againt a current NASCAR? I also think they are incredible, and a lot like NASCAR from the 60's. REAL cars, FTW.
They are not as production as I thought. Reading the Wikipedia entry they sound a lot like NASCAR of a couple of years ago - equalized by the rules - but not quite NASCAR's CoT. Spec differential, transmission, suspension and brakes. The Commodore race car is modified from the production car - made with a shorter wheelbase to make it equal to the Falcon.
MUCH better to watch, however, with left and RIGHT turns. I could see myself getting more interested in NASCAR if they did more road courses.
V8 Supercars are still built on a production shell (conceding the wheelbase issue) but are way more high tech than NASCAR, as in full EFI, programable from the pits, driver adjustable anti sway bars and brake bias.
They are more like the perfect bastard offspring of a NASCAR and BTCC union.
(spoiler alert)
How good is Whincup feeling, 2 back to back series victories in the Ford, jump ship and win in the Holden.
i can't wait to see one of these in person. I think a trip to bathurst is the ideal location, bolstering all kinds of GM gear...and my 24 beer per day limit! That's right below my Ring 24h trip and Le Mans 24h trip.

Yeah, Whincup has just dominated thus far. It'll be interesting with the new rule change on the enduros with full time drivers not being allowed to team up.

I'd love to see Marcos Ambrose take a lap at Watkins Glen in a V-8 SuperCar then a lap in a cup car...I'll keep that idea among the list of impossible things that will never happen.
But, that would be so cool !!
