Anyone else getting up early tomorrow? I’m running with Martin Sports Car Club tomorrow in Tavares, Florida.

Mustang has three-quarters of a tank. Trunk is empty. Car is clean inside and out–glass, too. Toll pass is in the car.

Lugs torqued, oil checked, tire pressures set. Brake fluid and coolant good.

Course map downloaded to my phone. Run/work order checked.

Cooler is out of the closet, waters are in the fridge.

Cameras are charged and packed.

Hat and helmet sitting by the front door.

Alarm set.

Not this weekend, but I do need to find when the local Porsche club has an event that fits in my schedule. Part of the benefits of the class I took is I get a free entry to one of their auto crosses this season.

The helmet is in a plastic storage bin in the garage, all with the portable compressor, yellow painters tape (BRG car), spare oil, rags, and the spare tire and a lawn chair on top.

Codriving a friend's ND club in C Street tomorrow. We're riding to the event together, so I have to limit how much stuff to bring.

See you there.

It's our off season; no one wants to autocross when it's 110 degrees out.

60% chance of rain tomorrow, so instead of the Fmod I'm taking the Bugeye sprite. It's fun when your rain car has side curtains and no functional wipers or defogger.

Site is 4 miles from home, so I'm not super stressed about packing stuff. Rain suit, a few bottles of water, magnetic numbers, and a few tools.

Just arrived at my first solo event in 20 years or so.  And it's raining. Film at 11.

Update:  we survived.  Morning was wet, afternoon was dry, total of 8 runs and we were home at 3:00 .  My son is faster than me by 0.9 seconds.  He's one of those naturally gifted people for anything with wheels; bike, moto, and now car.  I was worried he wouldn't have fun, but a guy with a RHD Lancer Evo he went to school with, and he's spent the evening working on recruiting his friends for the next event.

So, yeah, it was a good day to be me, which doesn't happen often yes

Yes! Looks like an eighth gen civic coupe in H Street. My autocross choice since selling my last Miata. Codrove a friend's CS ND today.

Acura RSX actually. It's turned into a generational car - my dad bought it new.  I don't think he ever autocrossed it. Not telling him about this until he gets this pic framed for father's day.

The class winner was an '11 Civic Si - Nick was about 2 sec off his pace, not bad for his first day out, and running 400 tires and no LSD.

Edit - daughter's car is a Civic EX, same color. Rear sway bar is like 3/8" surpriseWe'll probably try to drag her to an event while she's home for half the summer.

RSX, of course! Great looking cars. I looked for pictures to try to place it, guess I got close.

I just bought a second civic, a 10th gen sport hatchback manual, already H Street prepped with konis and a Karcepts rear bar specked for the Type R. It’s going to be a big upgrade from my 1.8 coupe.

Previous owner of my new new (to me) civic is from your area, now relocated to Daytona Beach.

Glad you all had fun, and always good seeing Eric at our local events.

It was a bit warm today. Stopped at Publix for some cold sushi. Came home and napped.

Oh yeah, a pic from my lunch stop–twins! (Okay, not exactly, but humor me here.)

Oh yeah, perhaps the highlight from yesterday’s drive home (aside from lunch). I took the scenic route home that cuts through the Ocala National Forest.

Just before entering the forest, I pull up at a light next to a dude on a motocross bike: full leathers, boots, etc.

He starts giving me a huge thumbs-up.

I’m like, Dude, I’m in a Mustang with chrome wheels and blown shocks. Still, the car seem to make his day, so I’ll take that as a win.

Surprised there's autocross in Lake County! My folks live in Eustis and I just assumed you'd have to go somewhere in Orlando to do that. Most all of my friends went to the TNIA at Nashville Saturday. I had to stay home and get the house ready for those aforementioned parents to visit. That and wash the Miata so I could take pics and put it up for sale. Ad went up at noon Saturday. Sold it at 1 today. Not bad, but I'll miss that thing.

Yup, the Martin Sports Car Club has been autocrossing at Lake County Tech for 20 years or so.

And the address for Martin’s site:

13000 Frankies Rd., Tavares, FL

Next time you’re down visiting your folks, maybe you can make an event.

Cool. Spectators are welcome, and there’s always someone at the entrance with waivers. And if you want to run, just sign ahead of time.
