I'm no fan of the look of those but its a cool, odd old car nonetheless.

If you like Avanti cars you NEED the Bloomberg car.

Several Studebaker models were offered with the R-2 supercharged engine as an option. To answer your question, yes, it was an option.

If I could go back to 1963, I would special order an R2 package on 1964 Wagonaire.

Avanti

I remember the pretty, young, and extremely impatient girl who worked at the local grocer when I lived in Italy. When the line didn't move fast enough she would start shouting "Avanti! Avanti!"

Avanti - to forward or advance. Studebaker couldn't have picked a more fitting name

Pretty and cool GT for the time. 289 CID Studebaker V8, optional Paxton supercharger, integrated roll bar, lots of cool "aircraft style" switches ...

Ok, James Bond didn't drive one. The guy who created James Bond did.

I think the Avanti ranks with the '63 Corvette split window and the '63 Riviera as the best looking on all '60s American iron. Raymond Loewey and Bill Mitchell were geniuses.
