Hey,

I have an Everstart battery box that I bought from Walmart about 6 years ago.

The AC charging adapter: (#HA41U-13505)has died.

I thot it would be easy to find on the Web....NOPE. The owners manual doesn't have a parts list. (?) Walmart, locally, and in AR is no help.

Has anyone else needed to case down this sort of widget?

TIA, Rog

Buy this.

Find the tip that fits. The tip polarity is printed on your old adapter. Web search tells me it is 13.5v 500mA, so set the selector switch to 13.5 and you're good.

Wall warts are pretty universal, go on ebay and buy one that meets the same voltage and equal or better current specs, splice on your tip (mind the polarity) done. Though with 6 years on the battery in there I'd question the economy of fixing it.

Guys:

Thanks for the Amazon tip.

BrokenYugo: What is the expected life for these Battery boxes?(I haven't used this one much, lately.)

It's a cheap sealed lead acid battery, I'd guess 5-8 years depending on storage conditions and use.

Guys,

Thanx for the info.

Is there a tool/way to diagnose the health of a battery box?

TIA

try jump starting an older American V8 powered car or truck with a dead battery. if it can do it, then it's still good..

Jump boxes like that are generally just motorcycle/lawn tractor batteries in a convenient carry case. You can recharge them with a regular battery charger via the cables. Might want to pop the case apart to make sure it's not an AGM, but every one I have seen was just a lead-acid battery.

The chargers seem to always die first, usually from people grabbing the box and yanking it off the shelf without checking to see if it's plugged in.

The nice thing about the battery being a standard unit is that you can open it up and replace the battery pretty easily when it wears out. OTOH, for not much more you can upgrade to a lithium-ion jump pack that's much smaller and lighter.

The lithium-ion packs are great to keep in your glovebox, and I bought one just for that purpose, BUT! They are only useful for assisting a weak battery. You can't use them to start a car that has a completely dead battery, or start and move a car that doesn't have a battery in it. You'll let the smoke out.

With a regular booster pack, you can do that, since it's just a regular battery in a handy carrying case with fat cables sticking out the side.
