I've read mixed messages regarding this subject. I own a Battery Tender and several Battery Tender Jr.'s. I just bought my first Optima battery. Are they compatible?

There is no direct info on either company's website. I have written to Deltran, but have not heard back yet. Optima sells a proprietary charger, so I'm sure that's what they will insist upon, but I don't want to buy another charger.

So what's the deal? I'm sure that both companies hear this question multiple times per day.

The battery tender (TR) stuff is.. ok-ish at best. I decided to invest in the 3x more expensive CTEK battery tender/charger and find it to be 100% worth the price difference.

I have multiple C-Teks at home and at the shop. Far and away the best battery charger / maintainer I've ever seen.

We supply one with every car we deliver.

Optimas have been sucking hard lately, we've had trouble charging them even with good quality chargers. The best solution for them seems to be putting our big Snap-On charger on full manual mode and stuffing a big charge into the battery for about an hour and then switching to the "smart" charge mode.
