What about a first-generation MR2? Would be a cool mid or rear engine death car. Course I know nothing about MR2

To satisfy my own curiosity I checked Craigslist for MR2. It seems that everybody's pretty power proud of the first jeans but I was surprised at the number of second generation MR2 in the $2,000 price range
I suppose a Saturn might be a cheap and easy option with its unbolt-able body panels. Maybe not the high performance option however.

Based on the comments in this thread it sounds like you should have made one out of your i3.
Here is a truly terrible idea for a powertrain source, but couldn't help but think of this thread on seeing it.
Edited to add pic--
a crown vic would be easy to pull the body off of and build a frame on top, more-or-less the same as they did with dune buggies out of beetles.
all the c5, c6, and c7 corvette frames have a similar, kart friendly frame like the c4 has.
Fiero has a pretty solid space frame that would make an easy kart.
After seeing the camaro at the challenge im pretty sure any unibody car could have all the useless bits cut off and a cage added for some good cheap death kart fun.
i have been drawn to the idea of doing something similar to an AW11 mr2, as i DD/autox'd one for ~5 years i have a soft spot for them. after looking deep into the interwebs i've found atleast one person who has done something similar. there is also some more in the front you can cut out as well if you're willing to move the radiator back some.
Depends how handy you are with tube... And how much effort you want into it.
I always thought a P71 Vic would be a great platform. Remove body, MS the 4.6 with a t56 or tr3650, section a foot from the frame. Add as much tube and sheetmetal as your locale mandates and enjoy...

I'm so stupid I've got to admit that I spent at least 30 seconds clicking on that and wondering why it wouldn't play.

At least there are some other straps along the side securing the cart, but all that flame on the rear strap securing the car to the dyno!

Here's a good looking Crown Vic death kart... Crown Vic chopped up
How about a motorhome? Ticks almost none of your boxes but what the hell?

So called around to a friend who deals with Copart.
This is what we are bidding on. Should make a good starting point to build a 2-Eleven like replica. Seems like based on prior sales I can get this for a reasonable price. Selling off bits of the car that I don;t need will make it cheap enough to death kart.

Wow, that seems almost too nice to strip down and make a Kart out of.
