So Miata pickings are thin on the ground around here. Everything sub 4K has been a absolute pile. But if say open that up to anything that would look cool as a Kart and where I could sell the parts off to offset the car what else should I be looking at.
Foxbody Kart?
Fiat 500 Kart?
As long as I can get a basic cage ordered up I can do all the other bar work.
As much as i love the fox chassis im pretty sure it would be terrible as a cart. Panther cart! Crown vics can be found cheap.

This. The longer I stare at the Camaro carcass in my garage, the more bad ideas I get, but I'm afraid SWMBO might set the garage on fire if it doesn't go away soon.
Salvage Viper Cart? Or maybe C5 Corvette?
Awd bravada would be cool.
In reply to Cotton:
Buy pimpm3's Fiero and Firebird. Own two pieces of Challenge history and make karts of both.
The panther has a perimeter frame I think.... not sure but I think old caprices have a full frame too. Would be easy to build off a frame and could be a 4 seater too! Kart fun for the whole family!

RX-8 kart would probably work well. They can be cheap and the bottom of the chassis is stiff to accommodate the suicide doors.

Already have that is full 800hp non death Kart fashion in the garage.
What I want to do is an Exocet but after talking with the vendor on the phone they are backed up on orders. 12-14 weeks to build and another 2 weeks for shipping puts it dead in the middle of my most busiest time of year so I would not get to it till late 2017 early 2018
Looking to build something in the 7-10lb/hp range and sub say 5K after I sell off all the bits. Or around 10K after I sell of the carcass to build a simple exocet.
I bought my trans am for $1080.00. I sold 850.00 worth of parts easily and I threw a good portion of the car in the dumpster. I still have enough parts to zero the car.
The weld in cage was $300 from Summit racing. It is a Chevy v8 so power is easily made and inexpensive.
All told I took out approximately 750 pounds.

Single cab pickup. Super cheap, V8, rear drive, manual trans available.
Easy to strip down. Put small wide wheels....Or keep em tall and do stupid off road.
Essentially tear off the front and bed, cut the top off the cab. Win.

I've seen a few times people have done it with Fiero's, and to be honest it takes a car that I loathe and makes me want one.

A Miata Kart with a V8 conversion would be hard to beat for the power to weight ratio.

Just C4 it, 6speed later LT1s and LT1s are coming down hard in price...
I'll vote C4 too, but that's mostly so you can sell me the parts I need for mine...

There are a few locally in automatic at like 2k with rebuilt motors and smog certs. If a manual pops up that may be another option.
