Still not sure what makes this one so great. The poor soul with the sidecar? The sudden rain shower? The strategically placed empty boxes? That jump to end all jumps? The off-road scene? The way they calmly talk at the end? His eyebrows?

Discuss.

Ronin was great, but lost valuable points for never entering the LA flood control channels, which all good car chases must. Witness:

LA river, you say?

A chase, in a sense....

No LA river but the chase from The Burglars has far more driving prowess in the pre-CGI era and less absurdity.

Bullitt or the 1974 Gone In 60 Seconds still battle for the #1 spot in my mind.

I think Italian Job will always have my favorite chase scene.  More comedic than serious, but still well done, and very watchable.

Too many incredulous scenes. From the dry to wet to dry to wet streets, people flooring it in reverse backing out of a parking spot and things like that. And did the director really think the audience wouldn’t be able to discern that a good chunk of the film was sped up? I hate that most of all.

Bullitt will probably be my favorite but man, I sure love the Duel chase.

I'm going with the first Borne movie.  It had it all.  A mini.  Funky euro police sirens.  Sidewalks.  Stairwells. Even a decent soundtrack.

Best "LA river" chase goes to T2 in my book.

Not gonna lie I thought this was gonna be about the one in Texas where the guy hit a wall, caught on fire, flew off a bridge then exploded.

Not a chase, but by far my favorite car scene.

You all got it wrong.  Smokey and the Bandit trumps them all. The car chase was basicly the entire movie. Cool car driven by the guy we all wanted to be in the car we all wanted with the perfect  girl by our side.

Best car chase ever.

They took the pin out of the top door hinge when he was trying to knock it in at the beginning, so I questioned everything after that moment

I always really liked the one from The French Connection. Or Two Lane Blacktop or Vanishing Point

Also Baby Driver and the new Mad Max had fantastic chase scenes.

Picking a favorite car chase is really hard.

He wasn't being chased by a car, but I liked the pieces of James Hetfield running from the shockwave in the I disapear video.

The best chase i've seen happened just last week in my old stomping grounds. It has action, it has sex appeal, it doesn't get any better then that.

It's short, but another favorite from the LA flood channels. (Warning: potty-mouth language.)

I was thinking that or the 40 minute masterpiece that wrecked 93 cars in the original gone in 60 seconds.

JG, normally your words are gospel, man, but you are wrong here.  The LA channels are hackneyed to death.  It's frankly astonishing that LAPD doesn't have a special squad that just drives up and down them inviting crowds of idiots to go away.

The first 6 minutes of Baby Driver are quickly rising to my top favorites. If aren't hooked from that first chase, I don't know you.
