I'm trying to get new wheels and tires after a rear disc brake conversion. I having the hardest time searching for rims. Part of my problem is I will wind up with two different lug patterns. 4x98 which I can wobble bolt out to the more common 4x100 in the from and either 5x4.5 or 5x4.75 rear.

Summit has a great search feature, and has more choices in the style I'm looking for. (More old school) but doesn't carry much for foreign stuff. Tire rack is useless since I don't have a vehicle to put in. Discount tire doesn't let you filter by offset/ back spacing. What else is out there to help me?

eBay gave the wheel and tire section a bit of a redoing not too long ago. It's pretty alright, but the Mad Tyt JDM Stance Rimz, yo get a little overwhelming at times.

5x4.5 works out to 5x114.3mm. Very common bolt pattern.

I know that feel on 98mm spacing. My Alfa 164 uses a 5x98mm bolt pattern which are next to impossible to find in the US. I've found a site in Europe that will ship new wheels to the US and a site that allows you to buy and ship wheels off of Yahoo Japan auction listings (JDM equivalent to eBay). Shipping is a bitch in either case. If you want to check them out for yourself have a look.

You can use this site to get an idea of how the new wheels will fit compared to your current ones.

Find out what vehicle comes stock with the size you're looking for, then punch it into Tire Rack. It's really too bad they don't let you search wheels by size & spec the way they do with tires.

you can call them and get one of their sales/techs and they can help you explore pretty much anything you want …

there are potential legal ramifications if they let you just search and buy without it being vehicle specific (or so a couple of their people on another forum have explained) ….

so call .. they can help

tire rack has a nice tool so you can see what different wheels would look like on your car

Which is better, wobble bolts or adapters? The idea of wobble bolts kind of turn me off but maybe they're a decent solution?

I called tire rack, general info line and they said they didn't have anyway to look things up besides make and model. is there some trick to getting past the general call in line to someone that can look this stuff up?

Weird thing with exactly those sizes...

2nd gen RX7s could be had with either 4 x 100 (which you can wobble bolt - Miata / RX7/ Etc...) OR 5 x 114.3. (RX7 / Mustang / etc...)

I am not sure if that helps you or not...

I seem to remember that you have to go down some "ask for technical help" hole … LOL

I'll try to find the relevant link on the other board

Actually, 5x114.3 is actually 5x4.5, but that's just me being picky
