I have been building a few different bike engine challenge cars over the past years and now have 3ish GSXR1000 motors (early, 01-04). I finally completed a bike engine challenge car, and ended up using a different motor altogether. So now in the name of clearing out space, I've been selling off my GSXR1000 stuff. The act of selling stuff has got me looking closely at all the stuff I have. And the act of looking closely at it has me convinced it is really cool high end racing parts for dirt cheap.
So now I want to build something with it and the loop continues... haha.
Anyway, I think I'll be able to stay strong in the end and part out the rest of it on Ebay if I need to. But another part of me thinks I could probably make one running engine out of the 3 that I have, and still part out the rest to basically have a running motor for net $0 or be in the green.
So do I build an off road buggy? An additional challenge car? A trike? Swap a smart car? A helicopter? Swap an ATV? Golf cart?
What would you build?
Golf Kart. I've seen your block. You could totally get away with rippin wheelies. Because you totally would rip wheelies.
What are the gearbox limitations? (I.e., how much weight can you reliably move?).
The manchild in me says, "Golf kart" because that sounds awesome.
The semi-practical human in me says, "Spridget" because that would be fun.
And the really practical person says, "Dude, a GSXR1000 is begging - begging to be stuffed into an old Mini."
Car wise I'd probably be doing a lotus7/caterham type car.

I was just thinking I need something to power the front wheels too

I would build a 1000cc F500 chassied Datsun Roadster . . .
But if that didn't workout for whatever reason I'd probably try to find a 3/4 scale Porsche 962 body to put it in.
I have a shopping cart you can have if you want to break some land speed records.
The direction i would go...

Those guys are turning laps under 1:20 at Road Atlanta with GSXR1000 stock motors...

Put it into F-Dat. Obviously.
This seems like the obvious answer to me:

Something long travel but still designed to boogie down in all forms of motorsport would be pretty cool. I like the crosscarts and rallykarts and their ilk.
if you know french (I do not) https://rallykartworld.com/ These things are sweet though.
I really love the sports racers from the early 1960s. I vote something like an Elva-Porsche
Or a Lotus 19
In reply to nocones :
I think I've seen pictures of that idea Robbie!
My vote is offroad buggy... I had one in a single seat mid-travel minibuggy many years ago (before the recent popularity of SXS cars had begun, back when you had to pretty much build it yourself if you wanted performance and/or speed).. that motor was a monster in that little car- I ran out of nerve and suspension way before I ran out of motor... lightning quick fun.. ran mine on the sand in Pismo and Glamis in CA.. Minibuggies (bike-powered buggies) are big fun... if you're interested in making this a project, a good resource is minibuggy.net.. I haven't been on it in a long time, but I'll bet the core group is still there ready to share their wisdom..

Hahaha I had these two thoughts exactly already. Unfortunately, #1 is out because I can't recoup enough to use the gsxr motor in budget.
Number #2 is out because, well, I guess it really isn't actually out.
In reply to DWNSHFT :
I actually considered trying to track down these molds from way back in this thread.

I think someone on this forum still has them.

I smell a Bad Decision brewing....no bike engines in D/Emod, could probably fit into Bmod pretty well.

Crosskart....
Not gonna lie, this seems most awesome-est to me right now.
What's the difference between a crosscart and a minibuggy?
Is the crosscart just a more standardized version?

Duh...
I mean, this does look awesome.
