Emphasis on the clearance part. Going to 2 1/2” after the x pipe and it is low ground clearances. I feel the little hooks and rubber o rings will allow it to hang down too far.
Is there a cheap alternative that leaves the exhaust tucked against the chassis more?
You don't have to put the O rings on the top. If you run the hook under the pipe and use two o-rings per hanger you can put the pipe right up against the floor if you want. I don't recommend that, obviously, but you could. If you need even more clearance then use oval pipe.
Partially crush the pipe making it oval? I am sure there is a limit before it starts restricting flow but I have seen some seriously flat exhaust pipes over the years.
I use this sort of hanger on the rally car, with a few tack welds added to the box that holds the rubber bit (the cheap ones are just bent, not welded):

They're pretty robust, and don't allow a ton of movement so you can tuck the exhaust up tight to the floor.
Polyurethane hangers will allow for less movement than rubber in the same installation. The geometry discussed is good.

They do make the rubber hanger donuts with a chain molded in. It was the easy button for keeping exhausts under water cooled vw’s back in the day.

What is the intended usage of the car? On our Chump/Champ car we used chains. Depending on location we either welded a 10 inch piece under the pipe and bolted to the floor with whatever link made sense, or welded a piece of chain to a muffler clamp and did the same. we tucked it up higher than stock. Obviously NVH took a hit.

Here is a pic showing the chain on the hangers rather than bolted. I dont have one of the finished product
Love the chain option. I'm gonna remember that.
