Hi all,

I'm looking for your advice on the best way to listen to the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona.

Last year I was lucky enough to be in Daytona for the Rolex24 but I found it difficult to follow the overall race because I couldn't hear the broadcast. This year I'm looking forward to being back in Daytona and am hoping to improve the experience.

Is there a local broadcast of the race I could pick up with a AM/FM radio headset?

There's free WiFi at the track ... is there some clever app I could download to follow the race?

I saw that Racing Electronics was renting scanners w/headsets but it wasn't clear to me what I'd get to hear with that. Am I missing out on something there? Would a scanner from Radio Shack do the same thing?

I'd like to hear your thoughts & suggestions for good ways to catch the broadcast while at the track!

Thanks!

I believe the radio LeMans crew does a live stream audio of some sort, but we rented the scanners a couple years ago and it was pretty cool. They'll give you a cheat sheet for what teams or what function is on each channel and you can listen in to the driver audio or race control.

Oh, also I think the track announcers broadcast on FM at the track, so if you're on-site you cab tune in the to PA system basically.

You'll need to log in to post.
