Idk why but have always had a soft spot for these,
My favorite big coupe is the 2003 Acura 3.2 CL Type-S 6MT. Here's my wife putting hers through the ringer at VIR last year.
when I was little, my Grandfather bought a beautiful green Boat tail Riveria. That car had some doors

My dad had one, 79 XE, beige with tan interior and T tops.
My dad had one too. 79 XE, white w/blue interior, no T-top w/318 and hubcaps. Wouldn't own a car w/fancy aluminum wheels and loved the 318 Mopar motor. Called it his old man sports car.
Here is a picture of two things I spent a lot of time inside, and one I have not.
The Cordoba was my biggest 2-door car, and it got me home in much the same way the B-17 did. Regardless of how many holes and parts were missing, it seemed to keep running.
I had 4-door and wagon versions of the Impala, never the 2-door although my ex-wife did. She had the 6 cylinder and it sucked.
I am still waiting for the call from Salma.
My 4th generation camaro had massive doors, I never knew composites could weigh so much. The hinges hated their life and my car was well under 100k miles.
1987 Grand Marquis Coupe. All the space of a full size sedan, but with only two doors!
My grandmother had a Buick Wildcat and I remember her parking in the middle of her fairly small two car garage and the doors just about touching the walls when opened.
I also remember her saying she had the car up to 110 once and saying "I was 65 then!" and giggling like a little girl.
I love the older bigger two door classics. But holy tar you are right about the doors, I bet they weight 200-250lbs each with glass in them
I love big cars. I love cars with 2 or 3 doors. Mmmmfh. I love the Benz coupes like the C107, C123, C124, C126, C140 and suprisingly the C208 a little bit.
It's a 560SEC for me though.

Okay, you win at matching vanity plates to model names.

Sorry for the size and quality, but this thread reminded me of this pic - of a dapper young Woof and his 74 Regal
2dr is still my first choice.
GM's '73 - '77 Colonnade doors were some kind of ungodly heavy. My guess is you could sawzall them off and run mid 12's stock.

I had one of these supercharged pimp rockets! Mine was black with an all black interior and grey wheels. Gawd that car was friggin sweet. It rode like a cloud and the seats were like your favorite recliner. The SC3800 put the power down nice, it wasnt designed for autocross but man what a sweet car for eating up highway miles. All that being said, gm luxury cars dont age well. Electrical gremlins and broken plastic interior pieces that were nla caused me to unload it. But it was definitely the nicest car ive had.

Love those. My favorite car growing up was my grnadfather's '76 Grand LeMans, which I inhereted and swapped a 455 into:
Fast, comfy and way cool. Hard to find these days with the black velour interior.
I fell in love with my SC300 donor car and was a bit tearful after completely dismantling it and scrapping the shell. Two doors, long hood, correct-wheel-drive, torque for days, Lexus luxury, and even a third pedal. I vowed to find another one some day.

You left out the C114. Been trying to find one for a couple of years now. Getting tough.
I don’t know what it is, but I love the pillarless coupe look. So graceful.

Wow, when I first saw that pic I thought it was a movie hero car. Never seen or heard of one before (Remember I didn't land on this continent until 94). That looks awesome, the kind of thing a baddy would drive in a movie from the early 80's but set around now. Love it. Must know more.

I love those third gen cars, they all looked good. I owned my share of them.
Always wanted to build a 77 Malibu, dechromed, and lowered on 235 70's and stock car rims, but a Lemans would look just as good, or better

If you're serious about buying one, send me a message. I know a fella with a few for sale. They're in really good condition though, so it will not be GRM-friendly pricing lol.
My love for 2 door coupes is quickly fading, having owned a '13 Elantra coupe for the past 18 months. I've got 3 kids...we have a minivan for family trips of 5, but even when I have to take 2 of the kids on my own, what a PITA.
I didn't really think it would be that big of a deal...the kids are small, the back seat in the Elantra is actually gigantic. But constantly having to have one kid get out, flip the seat up, etc...is losing its' charm. Said it before and I'll say it again. ... only offering the Accord V6 6spd in coupe... Kiss my grits, Honda.
For a toy, sure, I love big coupes. For a DD, not so much.
Not really a "big" car. But my TC had massive doors, I would cringe every time my wife opened the passenger door when she opened in the general vicinity of another vehicle.
