One of the biggest things on insulation is to put it in the ceiling. If you're staring at the underside of the roof then the sun will heat the roof and it will radiate the heat back down at you as IR. If you ever find out that it's cooler underneath the car than it is next to the car, that's why.
+1. One of the car dealerships by me has a tire shop with an uninsulated metal roof. It's cool under there when it's overcast, but when the sun comes out it quickly turns into a solar oven.

Sophies choice.
right now I want a max jack, not a full height lift(regardless of ceiling height).
I can afford a footprint of 26 x 36 with a 12ft ceiling. Or I can afford 26 x 40 with a 10ft ceiling.
What would you do?
Definitely more floor space versus height. There are many more ways you can use floor space effeciently. Especially if you use a Maxjax and not a full height lift. I've got 10' and can lift our Highlander high enough to work on it with my Maxjax.
However big you build it you will want it bigger eventually

I have no doubt. No doubt at all.
