Hi Folks, I wanted to share my solution for a cost effective strut tower brace for the BMW E34. I already had the metal, so my cost was my time and welding materials.

This may work on other BMW’s too. As many who have the E34 know, the strut tower is not flat on top. In order to get a bar to mount up well I used mounting cups instead of the flat circular plates that you normally see. I do like the look of my design too…if I must say so myself 

I have been running the bar for a few months and it works very well. It has change the dynamics of the car. The suspension is Bilstein Sports and H & R Springs. It now stays flatter in corners and has better front grip. Who know strut tower brace would make that much difference on the E34?

I would suggest two things

  1. gusset that little leg that shoots off so that both pieces are tied together

  2. Raise your welding table! that thing is making my back hurt just watching you work on it .If you get the tabletop height slightly above elbow level (whether sitting or standing) your back will thank you and your work might improve too ( not saying it's bad but more control usually means improvement) You could find some more angle iron, drill some bolt holes so it could have adjustable height.
