It’s no secret that BMW and Toyota worked closely to develop the platform-sharing BMW Z4 and Toyota GR Supra, but which brand’s version is best? Is the BMW just a Supra with no roof, or are the two cars less alike than they seem? Which is the better track car? Here’s our answer.

certainly better looking than a Supra, though I'd like a shooting brake version :)
If I'm going to have to deal with a BMW engine I want a BMW badge to go with it.
I think the more cramped feeling in the Supra might be due to the size and shape of the center console.

Yeah, and the door armrests seem chunkier, too.

As the current owner of a Z4M coupe (that's 'zed' not 'zee' - Canadian, eh?) I am always interested in more current products, but in this case, there is no way I would own a car that looked like it was styled by a dyspeptic manga artist after a meal of tainted fish. The styling turns me off in a big way.
The BMW styling is much more interesting/acceptable to me, but they don't make it in coupe form which is the only way I'd consider buying one. Maybe that will change over the next few years - the coupes were an after thought in both the Z3 and Z4 models. If they did produce a coupe It would make me twitch, but I'd have a hard time giving up the race engine feel of that S54 engine - it will probably be the last naturally aspirated M engine they ever produce which is sad.
My other modern sports car is a turbo, and I like having one of each to alternate.
This is a win for me, not because I dislike the Toyota version but because it is a soft top. Sports cars needs to be drop top for me.

You, sir, have a way with words.

"dyspeptic manga artist" is now my new go-to insult!
