I met Bobby and his son Robby at a kart shop in Tampa in 1988. Robby was getting ready to run up Pikes Peak, and they had his car there. They stayed a good 2 or 3 hours after their scheduled time, mostly listening to me ask a thousand questions about how a 19 year old could get into racing. Very good people.
My wife would always laugh at me doing an impression of him back when he did commentary for CART.
"Well Paul, he's got to get just a leeeetle bit wider in that turn to make the pass".
He was a likable character in the booth. I was too young to really appreciate his driving history.
