Im happy to help if needed. We rented our professional sound system right there in Gainesville. Sadly, DJ Finna-T will not be able to attend this year.

Sounds strangely like the William Jeanes accounts in Car and Driver from the era. I'll have to dig back into my old collection and review them.

Thank you kind sir. We probably don't need assistance finding a DJ, but about those "Cheerleaders" you employed we would certainly have a spot in our team HR department.

Will you be fielding another entry this year?

Wasn't Bolus & Snopes the team with a jackass for a mascot? Will he be attending as well?

Your sense of motorsport trivia history is partially correct. Actually our team mascot was Dick Johnson,a sorrel MULE, not a jacka$$.

Dick had a wandering eye and soul so on occasion would flee the paddock in search of greener pastures. While most, but not all, mules are sterile that does not equate to impotency....a critical distinction. Dick is rumored to be enjoying semi-retirement at a thoroughbred breeding farm outside of Versailles, Kentucky. If he is unable to attend an appearance by one of his progeny, "Lil' Dick", is possible.

Another bit of trivia that most are not familiar with. Our mascot's first and last name are the basis for two vernacular terms often used to reference a certain male appendage for reasons that are obvious.

Heard you the first time. On advice of our in-house legal department, intellectual property division, that's why it's in quotation marks.

All your posts so far have been in this thread. Do you plan to broaden your knowledge of this forum and the great people here and perhaps venture to other threads? And the follow up question would be, if you do that would you plan to write in that same plagiaristic style in other threads? ... because I gotta tell ya, Ovoid or Phlegm, or perhaps Dick Johnson, whichever it is, it's getting to be annoying as hell, not to mention insulting. Even Bill Jeanes didn't write like that all the time.

(Incidentally, to the other forum members still reading this, the original B&S race car was a Shelby GT 350, which I believe is vintage racing somewhere today).

Point well taken, Gary. I would never remotely compare my style to the talent of Mr. Jeanes. As far As posting on other threads, I would and will if I have something meaningful to contribute. In the interim I quietly surf and learn from the brain trust that is abundant in the GRM FORUM. I certainly do not mean to insult or offend anyone. If I have touched a nerve I profusely apologize.

BTW, curious as to why you deleted your earlier post?

You are correct, sir. Actually a Gt 350H former rental car. And the 1972 Daytona class winner was a Camaro. And in subsequent years a Dodge Colt (well Mitsubishi) was in the B&S scuderia. An equal opportunity TEAM. Oh , and I almost forgot about the 1974 Honda Civic 1200 that turned over 140 mph at Talladega...and the Cannonxball Baker Sea to Shining Sea motor home that finished 11th in a little over 44 hours.

Ahhh.....so many cars, so little time.

No need to thank me. And far be it for me to suggest my style (or obvious lack thereof) is in the same ballpark as Mr. Jeanes. Since I surmise you are a student of sports car RACING history, were you aware that TEAM B&S was the brainchild of two students/DRINKING buddies while they were attending Milsaps College in Jackson, Miessissippi in the '60's? None other than William Jeanes (Bill to you) and Samuel E. Scott who went on to a distingished legal career (Sam to me), Sadly, Sam died last year.

Such an odd thread. It seemed to me that Gary figured it out but then the more Gary wrote the more I realized he had not quite figured it out.

In the end, William, we're (at least I know I am) proud to have you here.

As for more that you can contribute, I'll listen intently to anything you'll say about Canon balls. But, even if you don't, look me up at The Challenge and I'll buy the beer.
You know what car(s) to find me next to though I am still unsure what you'll be standing alongside.

In response to JohnRW1621:

This is indeed an odd thread, and growing curiouser and curiouser. And if Ovoid and Phlegm, or Dick Johnson, is in fact William Jeanes "his-self" (as he would have stated it), I would be deeply, deeply humbled, because William Jeanes was one of my all-time favorite automotive journalists. But I'm certainly not convinced. I just couldn't imagine someone of his stature ... well I just couldn't imagine. Read the bio link I posted above. Would he be posting here? Not bloody likely I'd think. Or perhaps it's some form of devious marketing ploy? But from whom?

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen...let's not let our imaginations run wild with speculation. There's plenty of time for us to share tales of by gone days. And perhaps the boss man will show one day and give you first hand history lessons.

For now the pressing need is to prepare the 2016 Challenge. And for that I must get some rest and finish this toddy.

G'nite, gents. Tomorrow, perhaps I will find some time to bring you to speed on the results of testing on the soil samples.
