I was trying to go until my birthday in the spring before I started looking at cars, but it's getting colder and my wrenching time is becoming less abundant and I was thinking about adding car #7 to the armada.
I was thinking about an XJS, a turbo Dodge, maybe a different brick, an RX7, a 3rd gen F-body, an RX7...
But then I think, hey, what about parts for one of the other cars? So I was looking at roll bars and headers and exhausts for the Miata, Konis and springs for the Swift, heads and a cam for the LT1, iPD goodies for the 740...
Then I thought to myself, "Self, why not go comiserate with your GRM friends? They have the same disease as you."
But that XJS seems to be softly calling my name, in a cool British accent...
Wait. You're refraining yourself from buying a big British piece of junk with crappy electrics only because you don't have time to wrench on the other six you already have?
That about right?
AND YOU CAME HERE ????
Fugsamaddawidyou?
Go buy a V-12HE XJ-S convertible!!!! Fun cars, great cruisers, keep you busy between cruises, and prices have bottomed out on them...
'79 Ford Fairmont four door sedan with a heavily boosted 2.3 & a T5. Build a complete and total sleeper out of the thing.

I also found a 3rd gen 5.7L TPI Firebird, red, slick top... Or a 5 spd 305 Camaro... Or a 5.0 bubble back Capri... Or a crappy british racing green XJ6... Or a 750 Ducati super sport...
The Fairmont's on the Fox chassis, innit? There's all kinds of goodness for those things.
You can't go wrong with an XJS, but what you really want to do is put that Jag V12 in an RX-7, then put the rotary in the Jag but put a punch of turbos on it so it'll actually move.

There are much stranger foxes to choose from too, I kinda like the granada, cougar xr-7 & t-bird.

Bad ad, but it could be interesting. Depending on where it is, probably not that far either.
I feel ya... I'm pining for a Miata, but am absolutely broke after having a kid 3 months ago, having to move 2 months ago, and having to cover 90% of the bills as my wife just went back to work from maternity leave.... all while trying to support a foxbody and paying on my Bronco.
I actually had to kick an AllTrac to the junkyard. That hurt, even if it was a Camry.
Are the other 6 cars working?

That's a little more than double what I want to spend on a car.

One is a parts car. One is currently down because it needs a head gasket and I don't have time until Monday to send the head to the machine shop.
The other four all run great.
It's just one idea but a Fairmont with four doors, a lightly breathed on 2.3 turbo (230 or so at the crank should be plenty and pretty easy to get to) and then start throwing suspension bits at it.
I really wish I felt like I had the garage to support a decent project so I could put a wrench & my money where my mouth is...

I think a V12 XJS would be awesome to have for awhile.

The XJS has been on my must-own list for a long time.
Also, there is a decent red Buick Reatta locally.. a manual Volvo 244 in Milwaukee... a used JR supercharger kit for the Miata... an LS400, a Q45...
I say Jaguar XJS or even better an XJ6 Coupe.

I dig the 80s 2.3 Turbo T-Birds. One of my ex g/f's had an 86 Turbo Coupe, and I enjoyed it so much that I stopped rejecting "modern" American cars just because they were American.

Jaguar XJS V12:
I say, Lugnut old chap, buy me!
Then if something expensive happens to the engine, LSX and manual swap.
