Well I bought my wife a new car to replace her Saturn Vue. The winner was a Ford Escape SE.

Cool. Which engine is that? Ive driven the 1.6 and liked it. I imagine the 2.0 is surprisingly quick. I know there is a non turbo option but i studiously ignore it and if you say you bought it i will continue talking about turbo engines anyway.

A teacher in a Ford Escape! I'm shocked!
Judging from the look on her face, it's a good choice.

1.6. It isn't fast but it has enough power to get out of its own way. We drove the non turbo as well but since all their S models had alloy wheels there was only a $1800 difference and the SE offered enough extra features to just go ahead and get it.

We thought about the Mazda CX5 but while the Mazda CX5 drove a little nicer, the local Mazda dealer wasn't really willing to move much on their price so the Escape SE was a couple grand less then the CX5 Grand Touring and the Escape had a nicer interior we though. Since neither is really a sports car, there was no way the CX5 was worth the extra cost to us. Also the Ford dealership was a much more pleasant experience then the Mazda one. They straight up lied to us about several things at Mazda as if I wouldn't look it up.

My wife asked the sales men who mostly bought Escapes and he said women in college and teachers. My wife is in both catagories. Lol

Everyone I know loves their escapes, including my sister. Good choice! And good on Ford for knocking it out of the ballpark with a cute-ute!

A happy wife just means that she would be more likely to kill you slowly rather than quickly and with brutality. Think long slow poisoning versus stabbing you to death while you sleep.

Good choice. I've only heard good things of the new ones. Meow, what ever happened to that hot wife thread...

There we go, Commandment #10 getting in the way again.
Does it still count since you are not really my neighbor?

In reply to HiTempguy: I think that the Escape has a beautifully designed front end, not a cute design. Is that bad?
