Car is an e36 with LS1 engine swap. I've been running it for about 2 years with a Chase Bays brand abs/booster delete setup but have never been totally happy with the manual brakes. So I recently picked up a Mercedes brake booster that is smaller diameter and the internet says it works great. I got everything buttoned up and the difference is fantastic! I'm very pleased.
However after a quick trip around the block, I opened the hood to find the vacuum lines, that power the booster, completely collapsed. Not sure if I should use more rigid hoses? is the generic check valve from Advance in backward? Something else? Please enlighten me :)
I think that collapsed line says your check valve is working very well indeed :)
What's the source of the collapsed line? Methinks it's not correctly specified and you need something with more structure.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
The collapsed lines are just generic Autozone "vacuum hose" - nearly zero structure to them. Sounds like something more rigid is my answer.
Find a spring the just slides in the hose. Problem solved.

Yeah, I don't think they're actually intended to pull significant vacuum, they're just not intended for positive pressure. Shouldn't be too hard to find a chunk of EFI hose of the appropriate bore. Relocate that check valve so you can use a short straight hose and it's a simple fix.
Trans cooler hose usually works fine for vacuum lines as well.
Thanks fellas. Much appreciated.
Looks like a tight bend off the booster too. Do you have a junkyard nearby?
Also think the bend off the booster is too tight. When the rubber warms up it collapses.
The line off the booster has a Pre-formed bend. I didn't force that into it. But it's just flimsy hose. I do have a couple junkyards near by. I'll get it resolved.
