Even as a fan of 2nd gen Camaro and Firebirds, I had forgotten about these
Wow, that's pretty freaking awesome! Classic hardcore performance Enthusiast upgrades but sold through a dealership with a warranty.
Years ago High Performance Pontiac magazine did an excellent feature on the macho cars, and even some of the later Mecham cars. Covered what the conversions were and what options were available. Those cars are cool.
I love reading articles like this, because selling new modified cars through a dealership is something I want to do. This is what it would look like 40 years later
Man, I LOVE these.
People forget that there were a lot of tuners building cars like these back then. The aftermarket really took over when Detroit couldn't. Between the DKM Macho cars, the Trans Am Specialties Bandits, Nunzi Performance-tuned Pontiacs, and even Yenko Turbo Z's, there were lots of options.

Don't forget Herb Adams' VSE Fire-Am's.
Totally dig the white with blue trim auto one. Realistically what are these things worth? I literally have zero idea of the value of any TA of any age, let alone a rare esoteric one like this.

We'll just call it the Nacho, because it's a tasty little bite.
Article updated to include sale prices:
1978 Macho T/A, #11, sold for $32,000; 1978 Macho T/A, #104, sold for $49,000; 1978 Macho T/A, #87, sold for $34,000; and 1978 Macho T/A, #192, sold for $32,000. A 1979 Macho T/A added to the auction, #56 of 96 produced, sold for $43,000
In reply to Cotton :
I'm not up on what comparable non-Macho T/As would sell for, but those don't seem like bad prices.
