I'd like to substantially stiffen up the suspension of my E46 M3 since it's main purpose in life will be track time. On another forum someone is selling a set of Bilstein PSS9s with 30k miles on them for about 60% the price of new. Anyone have positive experiences buying used suspension?

Second question - I don't need coilovers because I don't care about lowering the car that much but I do want stiff - suggestions?

The PSS9s got so-so reviews for the E36 application, I'm not sure how the E46 application compares. The KW Variant 3s were the ones I was considering for my E36. Again, not apples to apples, but a reference point.

I have the PSS9s on my Ti. They are STIFF. I like it, but I would not want to be a passenger in my car

How many miles on the PSS9s? Would you buy a used set?

roughly 40k thousand miles.

I do enjoy the shocks and springs, and with the proper sticky tyres, I can out corner newer M3s and even the newest M5s.. much to their displeasure. I have discovered that owners of M cars do NOT like it when the Lowly hatchback model goes around the outside of you on an onramp. They usually make their displeasure known by flooring it as soon as the road straightens up.

As I am something of a masochist (318ti, Classic 900, Fiat Spider) I would buy a second set in a heartbeat.. but a bit of warning.. anything longer than a 2 hour trip, and you WILL be looking to empty your bladder
