Anyone going to watch the C7 Corvette reveal online on the 13th? I for one am looking forward to seeing what they've done to my favorite car in the universe.

Really think this is the correct rear view based on spy shots. I like it.

i hope those aren't what the taillights look like... leave those for the Camaro and Malibu and keep the Vette distinctive..

Yeah, that definitely looks like a Camaro rump.

From talking with a few present owners it seems the "mature" Corvette owner demographic is not too accepting of change.

I think the car looks great and they need to make some changes to appeal to the next generation or they risk the fate of Buick, Oldsmobile, etc. Cadillac is starting to turn things around but it takes a while to shake that "old man" image. I can't wait for the C7. Hopefully GRM will get their mits on a press car pretty quickly.

Agreed.

As for the taillights my feeling is that it was a design theme developed a while ago and first released on those other cars. Companies have done this before. Remember the Chrysler TC by Maserati? Developed first but the Lebaron was released first. Not smart, but probably the way things went. I'm okay with them.

Here's to hoping it continues to be the one design Chevy gets right.

Always remember, the Corvette always had the Quad taillights first.

But I would have preferred to keep the round taillights.

The taillights are supposed to be the new look.

I've read a bit and if what I've read is true they kept the too large size, but did manage to reduce the weight to about 3000 lbs. The new LT1 (I believe that's the number) was part of that drop in weight.

It reads a lot better than in years past, but we don't drive a car by what we read. We'll still need to see it and drive it, but this is the first Vette I've been looking forward too since the "Stingray" series.

Remember when Vettes were smaller and weighed less than the rest of the Chevy line?

They still are. That's almost ONE THOUSAND POUNDS less than the Camaro. In fact, are there any cars in the lineup other than the Spark and Sonic that are less than 3000 lbs?

I want to see it in the flesh before I pass judgement.. and while I hate the taillights ( I would rather see half circles than the squared off things) I love the rear side and rear glass treatment

The Vette isn't less than 3000 lbs. now. What I read is that the new completely stripped base model was supposed to get it down to around 3000 lbs. We'll see if they hit that target.

There is no way the present day Vettes are 1000 pounds less than a Camaro.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the C7, which, if it's 3000 lbs will indeed be 800-1000 lbs lighter than a Camaro.

I haven't been following as closely as I normally do, is the C7 a new ground up design chassis wise? For some reason I recall the bankruptcy pushing back a clean sheet design until the C8 and the C7 being more of a C6+ (which was really a C5+). Still looking forward to see what the new car looks like in the flesh; been bitten since a father took me out in his 65 roadster w/side pipes (I'm still pissed he sold that car before I had my license, dam kids he claims...), hopefully this pushes C6 Z06 prices down a little and I can start looking at them...

I believe it's a major revamp and not a ground up. But it is upgraded significantly.

They shelved the mid engined vette due to the BK.

Read the C&D story plus troll the interweb a little, there's lots of comparo info there.

I get off on the little things. I can still read about the details of the NSX and get sexually excited. The newest Vette reads like that too.

My understanding is that the big changes for the C7 are the new engine, aesthetics, and the interior (which is supposed to be a huge improvement over C5/C6); the chassis/suspension is basically the same.

Keep in mind I'm not a huge GM guy, I'm fighting the fact that a C4 would really be the ideal AX car in my budget, but I just can't bring myself to put Chevy in the driveway

I would definitely say it was developed a while ago, since the design themes in question are from the 67-69 Camaro. Having Camaro-esque tail lights on the Malibu is only mildly lame, as the Chevelles did sort of share some general design themes originally. But I'm still trying to figure out how a modern interpretation of 1st gen Camaro styling themes belongs in any way shape or form on any Corvette ever...Because, in my humble opinion it doesn't. To me doing so would just prove to the world that GM designers still have the same lack of originality and vision that nearly ruined the company just a few short years ago. But then again, maybe (hopefully) it will be revealed wit proper bespoke tail lights. Either way it'll still be the hands down best bang for your buck high performance sports car/image-mobile, and they'll sell bunches of them because of it, regardless of what I think.
