I'm stuck in the install of a set of coilovers on my M3 and need some guidance. The camber plates cannot be installed so that they adjust just camber, they have to go in at a slight angle. Query - better to gain caster with increasing camber or to lose caster with increasing camber?
This is how the manufacturer shows to install them:

and this is how I have one side in so far:

Both are taken from the front of the car, the black car is driver's side and the red car is passenger's side. My plates are apparently slightly different from the ones used in the black car photo; if I had those it wouldn't be much of a problem. If I switch the plates around it the camber adjustment will point at the attachment for the strut bar. Which is better/correct?
It looks like you have those in wrong. I'll be right back with a photo of how they are supposed to look.
Just generally - a good baseline for an E36 road course car is:
Max the caster - should be about +7 at full
Camber - depending on tires but... static -2.7 to 3.3
Toe-in - zero it all the way around with juuuust a we bit in the rear.
Then, adjust to fit your driving style from there.

I know it looks wrong which is why I'm asking, but in searching after posting this the guys on M3forum.net say and have pics that they way I have it in is right for these coilovers. I'd be a lot happier if the camber adjustment slot pointed straight at the inner-most strut bolt but this apparently works.

OK. What brand are they? Mine are ground-control race and they line up like you expect:

In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
They are JIC Cross Competition. Much loved in the Porsche world as an affordable alternative to Motons but never widely adopted in the BMW world that I saw. The price sure was right and apart from this snag the quality appears quite high.
Are they a mirrored set?
If my space relation skills are working (and they may not be) you could swap that to the other side and gain negative camber (or is that lose camber?) and caster at the same time.

Yes I could do that, which is what prompted the initial question. I'm pretty sure I have them in "right" but they could be swapped around if that would be better.
