My first car was a 82 toyo corolla auto sedan. White, 239k on the clock when we bought it from a drunk guy at a motel. It was such a loyal, willing little dog it got named Sparky.

My white 1970 Impala with pristine blue interior was bought from a little old lady and got tagged as Priscilla, Queen of the Highway. It was more a reference to Elvis than the Aussie drag queen.

Most of the newer stuff has gone nameless.

Naming is an organic thing around here. My truck is the truck. My wife's FJ is mommy's truck. I wanted to call the Mazda 2 'the deuce', but somehow it ended up being called 'the tiny car'. It's not very manly.

My best friend's 4 door 1976 Impala was known as "The Drive By Mobile" because with the windows rolled down, the whole side of the car was opened up.

My friends used to call my 74 Camaro "The TPM" (which stood for "Thunderous Primer Mobile")

My favorite was my dad's 76 CJ-5 (red, three speed, 304 V8, Mack Bulldog on the hood and enormous brush guard) was named "Nellie" after his MIL. Not sure why, but he and my grandma always got along well, so I'm assuming it was meant to be a compliment.

My sister's lime green 72 Nova was always "The booger".

I kind of think car nicknames might be a redneck thing.

My 96 sunfire SE 5 speed is the E36 M3fire, or "berkeleying bitch" when the starter clutch wont kick on.

I had a 98 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5 5 speed for a summer that I called "The Rage" it was a rotted out POS with no real exhaust system to speak of.

The 98 Bonneville I bought a month ago only to lose oil pressure and toast the engine the other day is the "stupid piece of E36 M3 that doesn't berkeleying work", was my hooptie/living room prior to failure.

My first car, a free, souless, 1992 Camry base sedan with the only options being slushbox and broken AC, was simply the Camry, till it blew an engine 3000 miles later, then it became the broken POS.

Come to think of it, 50% of my DDs blow engines right after purchase, my dad has a similar problem with trucks, I think my family is cursed.

My first RX-7 was named "Bunny" by a friend, as a joke. When it rolled down the driveway and took our our mailbox (even though the e-brake was set and it was in gear) it was renamed "Devilbunny". The song of the same name was it's theme music.

The next RX-7 that was a long term resident was "Turbo-bunny" because, well, it had a turbo.

My current Forester is the Battlewagon, or Subie-dooby-doo, depending on if you ask me or my 5 year old daughter.

Magic Fingers! Complete with the slippery vinyl bench seat and inoperable passenger side seat belt, so when you took a corner, the passenger collided with the driver. Great for dates!!!

I have three distinct memories of this truck:

-Stopping short at a stop light, and a unsecured 350 long block in the bed smashed through the rear window about an inch from my head

-Running it without coolant for about 10 miles on the way to the junkyard in an attempt to kill it, only to repair it with a hose from a Cadillac and a bucket of junkyard coolant from the oily "free coolant" tank, and then not only driving it home, but driving it for about two more years. Mind you the odometer quit at around 250,000 miles, and that was before any of us could drive. This was about 2 years after we all got our licenses.

-Lifting the rear bumper up with another friend so it could do burnouts in the school parking lot, and having hot BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's spray all over my friend's leg and bonding with his skin!!!

Before Magic Fingers made it's final journey to the junkyard, we gave it a few beers. Right in the gas tank. It deserved it.

And I call my Trans Am "Worst Case Scenario" or "Transient Am". If there's an issue with the car, it's always the worst case scenario and most expensive to fix or biggest PITA to repair. Which leads to...

The car likes to loiter in driveways (not always my own driveway, ask Pseudosport) and has a tattered and torn car cover, so it looks like a transient, homeless thing.

CSX gets called "the Shelby" a lot and confuses new guests to my house that only know that Carrol Shelby put his name Fords, and not Turbo Dodges.

The 3 is the Daily Driver. Boring.

The Dakota is the Truck. Does truck stuff.

A couple more: My parents had a really nice green on white 1970 Olds 98 convertible when I was young. My sister and I used to call it the Big Green Booger Machine.

My dad had a gray 2wd 1983 Ford F150 stepside with the 300 I6 when I was a kid. Looking back, it was a really cool truck. Only issue it had was that the speed warning buzzer was annoying and buzzed loudly, so I called it the Bumble Bee Truck.

I'm not a big car-namer, but I have dubbed my E30 "Ugly". It just seems to fit, first off it's 3 different shades of blue, the trim is all trashed, and it's a big-bumper car, so it is kind of ugly. But also, the more I dive into it, the more I can see evidence of 28 years of neglect. Nobody ever loved this car, they just drove it into the ground. Kind of like the ugly duckling. So I see it as my task to find the beautiful swan inside.

There's at least two of us. Although back in the 70's I had a '71 Formula 400 Firebird. I put, in gold leaf, the words "Dream Weaver" on the back of the rear spoiler. Seems pretty flaky now, but cool at the time.

It's very rare for me to do so. I'm not one to form emotional bonds with most of my cars, my ADD prevents that. I think folks who do are more likely to name their cars.
