I want to add a stone guard to the front of my open trailer or maybe combo stone guard tire rack and have help to build it. I'm just trying to get ideas at this point.
Something similar to this perhaps:

I've even thought about ratchet strapping a piece of plywood to my front mounted tires.

that would be easiest and cheapest for sure.

I've got a typical tire rack and then mounted a pickup tool box in front of it. Between the box and tires in the rack the car is well protected and I have a place to store stuff.

Does your town/area have semi truck junk yard? Retro fit a semi cab air deflector?

A Vee up front might deflect rocks better, make better mileage on long trips too.  Only drawback I see is easy access to the winch or toolbox up front.

I don't have any pictures of it and I don't have that trailer anymore but a toolbox with a tire rack on top is really nice. Kind of like the one you pictured but with the bottom fully enclosed. Keeps stuff safe and dry and a lot cheaper than an enclosed trailer.

This is very similar to what I had but the tire rack was on top of the box instaed of behind it.

I saw this while I was looking for the one above. Not wild about the idea of it being canvas but would be easy to replicate in aluminum, or sheet metal.

IDK why one would need a stoneguard that tall. It's pretty easy to calculate the coverage based on the rear wheels of the tow vehicle. On our trailer (which is often towed into muddy areas, so I can see where mud spray gets on the rally car on the trailer), I've found that the 18" lower guard under the trailer's front rail (so, 18" above the deck) blocks pretty much anything from hitting the car on the trailer. This trailer here would protect the Eiffel Tower from stones thrown by the tow vehicle lol. Just seems like a giant drag chute to kill fuel economy.

I was just showing the design. If he's going to build it, he can do it as tall or short as desired.  I think it's too tall also.  It's taller than the cab of the truck towing it.
