I've suddenly developed a fairly bad wobble/shimmy on accelaration. It is not dependant on engine speed, but on the load applied. It feels like a CV shaft, but since I had replaced the drivers side less than 6 months ago, I replaced the passenger side since it had some play in the inner joint.

The vibration is still there, is it possible I could have killed a remanned CV shaft in 6 months? I have been pretty hard on the van, using it to move 13.000 lbs worth of stuff from the east coast across the mountains (in trips of about 1 ton each) at highway speeds. Or is it more likely that the remannes shaft I just put on had a bad inner joint from the chinese sweat shop?

BTW, if you want to really make the driver of a new 5 series BMW angry, pass him on the inside on one of the tight mountain turns in a wood paneled '92 Plymouth Voyager. :)

Not so much you killing it, as reman axles are sometimes not the very finest pieces of equipment on the shelf.

It sounds to me like you are on the right track- inner joint dry/worn/broken will definitly give you a vibration on acceleration.

Ok, thought about this for a few minutes, decided it was more likely I had killed a CV shaft in 6 months (35k miles) instead of just happening to get one form China that happened to wobble like the one I just removed.

Turns out I was right, I could feel the play in the inner joint once I had it off the van. I'll just consider the rebuilt one on the other side to be preventitive maintenance, lol.

I was going to do sway bar bushings while I had it loosened, but they wanted $30 each for them.
