My kids and I will be there. Red 1977 911S. We met there sometime last summer.
In reply to pkingham:
Are you the guy that dared to show up in the dirty 911? The one that all the non-Porchefiles thought was the coolest?
In reply to DeadSkunk:
Uh, yeah that was probably me. I drive the thing, heaven forbid. It's even dirtier right now. I planned on washing it tonight, but now you have me thinking I shouldn't!
Hmm... I should make it down sometime. I don't have a cool car but I like wandering around and looking at cool cars with other car people.
Wait, there's a 7:30 in the morning, too?
Sounds like a fun event, but this guy doesn't get up that early on weekends unless he has to.
We went once last summer and the three cars that attracted the most attention were the driver 911, a driver Fiat 124 Spider and a Caterham. All the newer Porsches and Corvettes got less attention.A 356 replica was there later, too.
In reply to DeadSkunk:
Same phenomenon here too. Stock 911s, Mercedes and Corvettes are cool but rarer and less common stuff really catches everyone's attention. And there's always 'That Guy' that has his car specs poster board on display on his stock Corvette...
Are they blocking off the streets? There is like no parking down there and the farmers market starts in May.
In reply to Zeitgeist:
This is at the Zingermans at Westgate Plaza. There's lots of parking at 7:30 in the morning.
I see. Thanks for the update. I've never been to that one just the main downtown location. Unfortunately I will be in Carlisle for the Kit car and Import event for the next one and the rest I am working until Sept. I hope it doesn't get screwed up by idiots driving before then.
Thought I'd try to figure out how to post pics by putting a couple up from the Ann Arbor C&C.
The first is from last Saturday. Pretty good mix of cars, but only about a third are in the shot.
The second is from last year with my 911 and my buddy's Caterham as mentioned above. Though my 911 doesn't look dirty in that pic, so maybe Dead Skunk was talking about a different one. It is a 6 month daily driver, though.
Edit: ok, guess I need to work on the picture posting. Maybe tomorrow...
In reply to pkingham: There must have been a second red 911 last year. It was parked over on the east side of the lot next the bank. IIRC it was an older, long hood model and the owner told me he lived on a dirt road, so it regularly got dirty.
Interesting shift- back in 2000 or so, the first Saturday event was at the Warehouse in Ypsi- where some rather great cars are stored. It's where I built the turbo Alfa for the Challenge.
I stopped going in 2007 or so, and then removed my cars over the last few years.
They are still going- organzing a spring and fall drive, as I get the e-mails.
In reply to alfadriver:
I have a friend who keeps one of his cars there. I must get over for a tour sometime.
