Is there anyone else in the yard who you could kindly ask to borrow?

Seek out high end non-American models. Tool kits (and spare tires) get cut by accountants on low end models

Found a 330 with a screwdriver that might work, thanks.

Volvo 740/940 have a really nice multibit screwdriver.

Way better than the E36 M3ty BMW screwdrivers

It was E36 M3ty but it had tangs on it so I could use locking pliers to get a good grip to push and turn. And it worked! Handle says W Germany as well.

Saab 900s have a drop down box in the spare tire well.  Screwdrivers, water pump pliers, etc.

And those water pump pliers are far superior to the ones in the BMW kits; they are very similar to the Knipex Alligator pliers. I'm really impressed with them.
