I wonder if I can play iRacing on the "Full size 6 DOF motion platform F1 simulator". I can probably get a sweet deal on it at the sheriff's sale.
Caterham's denying the hell out of it, but that seems to conflict with the list of seized assets:

Not sure what Gene Haas has already accomplished, but seems to me if Caterham is in deep trouble, it would be much easier to go F1 racing with an existing team.
Keep in mind that "Caterham F1" is not going to be the same as Caterham of the 7 set. Separate corporations, I'm sure.
Caterham Cars and Caterham F1 used to be quite closely associated - more so than any other manufacturer, I believe. But the team was sold off earlier this year.
Read the Racecar Engineering article carefully. It wasn't the sheriff, it was a group called "The Sherriff's Office". Here's a quote from their own press release:
By order of The Sheriffs Office, authorised High Court Enforcement Officers, we hereby announce the impending sale of goods seized and removed from a Formula One team.
That sounds like a repo man to me.

Aww shucks. This doesn't look good. Doesn't look like they'll even finish the season, and you can bet there's nothing going towards developing next years car.
Well, It looks like we will not have a sponsor event this year with Caterham for the USGP.
Too bad, I've always enjoyed those events even though Caterham events I've gone to in years past.
Let's see - bought cheaply at auction, you could have a great HPDE car. Just tell the organizers it's a Caterham!

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, but a modern F1 car takes an entire fleet of mechanics just to get it to start.

Wait until the engine needs a rebuild, which could be anywhere from "2 hours' runtime away" to "right now"
On the positive side, the brake pads are cheaper than an R35 GTR's (Seriously - $2.5k per set vs. $10k)
