If I buy a car for cash, how do I provide a receipt for the challenge budget?
Write one.
or
Show the ad if such a thing exists.
or
Write a post here on the board detailing the transaction (document the experience.)
or
all the above
just write something up on a napkin or back of an envelope or whatever you have in your vehicle at the time.

Well, I'm trying to lowball off the Craigslist ad, but I'll figure something out

Two weeks after you buy it, a cop shows up on your door claiming you stole a car. If you can't prove it, it's feet back and spread 'em and the seller gets his car back.
I usually write two receipts, the seller and I sign both; seller gets one copy.

Make a bill of sale. It is what you should do anyways.
Low balling off Craigslist is my favorite, good luck.

Umm... a receipt wouldn't prove a thing. That's what a title does.
Any moron can write a receipt for someone else's car.
Car was a 01 Nissan Sentra SE. Just like mine. Save engine, trans, even color.
It was a huge pile of E36 M3. My car is rusty, and I wanted to replace it, keep my car for parts.
Took my cousin with me, said when I pulled out of their drive, it smoked pretty good. Exhaust was broken at the cat, new clutch was making rattling sounds, all on a car with less than 100 thousand miles.
No thanks. I think I could patch mind together for less than buying and fixing that car.
Much more thinking to do.
Stupid Craigslist.
You'll need to log in to post.
