If that's an Archer reference
I have run ever challenge since 2009, any time now I will get time to test the car before the first autocross run...
Have fun, seriously, this whole thing is about some crazy guys building some crazy machines and using their imaginations
With a name like "Antihero", you should be able to come up with a reasonably memorable theme!
I've been going since 2004, and brought a host of oddities (mostly because I like quirky cars). It took me 11 years to make the podium (I truly am a rank amateur when it comes to cars- I've never competed anywhere else, and everything I know about cars I've read on GRM).
It's REALLY not about the car. It's about the fun you have with it, and with others.
John loves his Q45. Andrew scoffs and sees nothing but a motor donor. John makes fun of my pumpkin colored girly car while I whoop his tail on the autoX, I think his cushy interior is just plain silly. I don't know what to think of Pat's FWD passenger cars, but he destroys me on the dragstrip.
In the end, we are all friends, and some of us are a little better at racing than others (or shopping, or building, or swapping, or tuning, or...)
It's a great club. Or maybe it's a bit more like a gang.
1 scoring tip: I'd rather a solid autocrosser that struggles with the drags than the other way around. Mostly because I do not have years of drag racing experience, but also because the scoring favors them.
1 other tip: The Concours is about telling a good story. Through your entire build, be developing a story about the car that readers of GRM might want to read about. There are cars that have gone home with awards that never even ran (like the BatVan).
The most fun is often had by the people who don't take it too seriously.
