Could this be a simpler fix than the guy thinks?

If everything else checks out, to hell with the airbag light.
In full disclosure, I have driven my car for 5 years since I bought it with the airbag light on. Had the shop look into it when I bought it, they came back with they where unable to diagnose it and only a dealer could could do anything about it.

Good call on a salvage title.
that car has several expensive interior options. (See Porsche "Exclusive" option program) See also palm trees in the picture. Could these photos be pre-accident?
I don't really have anything to add other than: People with no artistic ability really need to give up the whole "I's gone take sum arty pitchers of mah car next to a train" (some dumpsters, dilapidated building, etc) thing.
That car is squarely in one of those positions where it is either an incredible deal or a terrible one. Sounds like it needs to be inspected by a Cayman EXPERT. There are always weird circumstances where a deal is possible, but one wonders who can buy a Cayman, crash it, and afford to replace everything EXCEPT the airbags.
Fishy as hell.
In reply to poopshovel:
I'd much rather see them try to be artsy than every picture of the car have their "hot" SWMBO sitting/leaning on the car.
It's got white gauge faces but no red calipers. This could be a base model (the ad makes no mention of base vs. S). Really nice base models are getting close enough to $25k that I wouldn't even think about this car. It has a lot of pricey options, mostly cosmetic (and the white gauges may be part of that), but I'm not sure if it all works together, appearance wise.
Where did I put that eleven foot pole...
It is the sheer NUMBER of airbags that would scare me away. The fact that which one(s) are malfunctioning is also a big concern. After a crash, I would expect it to be the one hanging out of the bodywork.
If all the bags are packed and concealed, then I would expect system diagnostics to TELL you what bag is not working. Whats with the guessing? Did they rebuild the car around a deployed airbag without replacing?
Even without the salvage tittle, the car wil have been carfaxed with about the same stigma.
15k, gut it, spend 10k on track tidbits and you got a deal.
NOHOME,
My initial thought was this is a scam, but if it isn't is it a salvage and there are missing airbags behind a repaired dash.
Well, for only a grand more this is available locally,too.......

My bad. The headline of the ad says S. Not sure what happened to the red calipers, though...
I wonder if this thing was crashed on the track.
It has airbags in the seats, but they clearly did not deploy. Of course, they wouldn't have if they were not in the car at the time. A lot of Cayman owners swap in GT3 seats for the track. Track use could also explain the caliper change.

So he takes pictures of the car to sell them. I looked at the train picture, and wondered where that was- the only close place where that possibly could be is the M14 triple decker. But wasn't right.
Then the office picture- could be any office, but the palm trees caught my eye. Not sure where in SE MI I've even seen palm trees.
Seems fishy.

At least that one has a Michigan plate, and the sky looks like SE MI....
What about recovered theft? Car was stolen and air bag or bags were stolen. This use to happen a lot. Owner takes the car back and the check from the insurance company and does not got it fixed properly.
Edit: Never mind it helps if I read more carfully.
About the car: It was in a crash and sustained damage to the driver side front fender, door and drivers rear quarter. It's been beautifully repaired. I've had the chassis alignment checked and it's perfectly straight.
The new Cayman has launched, so prices will only continue to go down. When I can get a Cayman R for under 30K, I'm on it like white on rice.
