The Code 130R Concept is a rear-wheel drive coupe with a 150-horsepower 1.4 liter 4-cylinder engine. It's a sort of "mild hybrid" with an engine that shuts off at stops and brakes that recapture energy to be used during acceleration. Although only a concept, it offers a preview of an inexpensive performance car GM could offer down the road...... the rear-wheel-drive 130R, assuming they(the 130R and the 140S) go into production, could cost a little over $20,000, GM says
mmmmm suggest GM buy a FRS and a BRZ and see if GM can reverse engineer something
Looks like a small Camaro. Vegas looked like small Camaros...
Or is that the next Camaro, since all the people that want the curent one will be in the old folks home soon?
Here's the catch: it's rear-engine, rear-wheel drive. That's a huge trunk up front.
Must be something under that hood. Look at the bulge.

Are you trying to say the corvair has been reborn?

I read that is front engine tear drive. I just wish they started way south of $20k.
Streetwiseguy,
I had pretty much the exact same thoughts when I read about this car in Autoweek on line. I was thinking, especially since Chevy showed a FWD sporty coupe with the same engine that if they really wanted to build a smaller Camaro...why not use an ECOTEC engine, instead of that 1.4 turbo mill that is starting to show up in everything Chevy with a 4 cylinder?

Nope, it's an FR layout (most likely a front-mid):

I'm starting to wonder if Chevy poached some Japanese designers (not that King JDM here is complaining). The greenhouse and overall lines of the Code130R remind me of my old 240SX coupe. The Asian influence is even more blatant with the Tru 140RS, which is an FWD concept based on the Cruze that debuted at the Detroit 2012 show.

I don't think it looks bad.

You mean once you get past the nose that looks like it's already run into a wall and shoved the front back about 12"?
The white one looks like an Eclipse
The red one must have a great personality. The white one photographs well. I send one giant vote for front engine/rear wheel drive. GM is putting lots of content in their vehicles now, If this comes in at $20K its a win. As for the concept names,GM please call me before publicly naming concept cars again.

Yes it does have a high nose, but I still doesn't look bad to me. It's a concept car. That's probably all it's ever going to be. I don't care too much for the taillights if I really had to nit-pick.
You guys gotta quit whining about the high noses. Ain't nothing to be done about it, since you have to have the big fluffy pedestrian pillow built into the hood now.
The nose is too bulbous anyway.
Everything looks like everything else anymore.
At least they don't have huge headlights that go 1/2 way down the fenders. The 140 isn't too bad, just needs the hood lowered 3 inches.
I would call the 130R the BMW .1 coupe. Take everything ugly about the BMW one series, then make it blander. The 140 is a Chevy Eclipse.
What's not to like?
RWD, fairly small, inexpensive, and it comes with a turbo for boostability. I even kinda like the looks. (at least the BMW Chevy.....not the Eclipse Chevy)
tough crowd
I wonder how much enthusiasm it would create if it wasn't made by the General. (I'm rooting for the home team, but GM hatred abounds)
I like the idea, but god that 130 is ugly.
It is like a first gen Neon Coupe finished in a new Camaro and the Camaro decided to keep the child.
Let's take less of a cue from the Camaro and maybe take some cues from the Corvette.
I like the Mitsubishi Eclipse in the second photo.

I like the idea, but not the execution. It's like they really want it to look like the Malibu. That's not a good car to copy.
really I though it looked like a mini camaro. If the engine is not completely anemic and If I can get a proper transmission I will totally buy one...
the second i saw the pics of it I thought bmw 1 series.
Still I think its a cool idea. Kind of like the Nova from the 60-70s.
