I think the engines have to come out of those from below, so you need to consider that if you plan to do your own work. I've seen several fourth gen F bodies for $1500 around here lately.

Holy crap I just now noticed the mileage. 77K. I should buy it just for the trans. By the looks of the rest of the car it may be 1,077,000.

I've seen a lot of fourth gens with the LT1 for that money but always with the automatic. The six speeds usually are quite a bit more.

LeMons! Talk him down to, say, $1200, sell interior, crap wheels etc to get it down to $500 then beat the remainder of it like it owes you money! Could probably sell the trans for enough to make it free then stick a T5 speed in it, those seem to go pretty cheap unlike the T56.
