Cleetus McFarland's latest video of his C6 corvette with a new 427cid with a massive turbo, they talk about hearing the two step while drag racing. I am assuming its a tuning thing.

What is this "two step"?

So you want a rev limiter closer to the lockup speed of the torque converter? I suppose you dont want to have to wait for the engine to slow back down for the torque converter to catch back up...

The chip burner program that I used for my CRX challenge car had a two step option so I used it in the drags. Somebody explained it to me that for a good launch everything has to happen at the right time, for the right amount of time. Being able to hold the RPM stable is one less variable to deal with-it also makes adjusting that variable much easier. Want to try launching at 3600 rpm instead of 3500? No problem. It allows you to concentrate on other parts of the launch like clutch engagement.

It's more than a rev limiter on turbo cars, it also adds fuel and retards timing so combustion happens in the exhaust system. This spools the turbo. That's why they blew up the accordion flex section on the crossover pipe
