So, everyone's thrown down a "what car thread", but I don't think I've seen a "what combination of cars" thread.

Basically the idea is not for one vehicle that does everything, but a combination of two or three that cover all of your bases.

Right now, we're running a Mz5 for grocery-getting/kid-carrying, I have my 5.0 for AX/hooniganism, and my 3rd-gen FSB for towing/hauling/4x4/backup grocery/kid hauler.

Seems like I could have something less beige (as Jalopnik would say) in that last slot, but that's a different thread entirely.

Just curious on your ideal 3-pc combo to cover all the bases. I think mine would be CTS-V Wagon, AE86 GT-S, and a 1st-gen Bronco.

Supercharged/V8 Miata and a Turbo Volvo wagon with a hitch for winter/hauling stuff. The only reason I also have a Volvo turbo sedan is because it was $500 and has all the pieces the wagon will eventually need. If I had to have a third I'd go for something vintage for cruise nights and car shows.

I'm pretty pleased with my current stable. 87 Toyota for offroad/camping fun, 91 Miata for backroad fun and a 93 KLR250 for two-wheeled fun. Of course, none of them are good DDs...

Right now, I have these:

-2009 WRX 5-door: daily driver, parts hauler, etc.

-1979 Trans Am: old muscle car project that needs lots of work

-another 1979 Trans Am: needs to be sold because its worse off than my other one

-1987 Shelby CSX: in the garage for some winter rust repair and to button up the engine, then it will be my "fun" car until I get tired of it

The plan for me is to sell my 2nd T/A and pick up a vehicle to haul stuff home from Home Depot, do yard work, etc. Right now I have a possible line on an old 1960's Ford station wagon that might be that very vehicle.

Ideal 3 car garage would be: 1. Aston Martin Vantage - Gran Touring, daily driver
2. Range Rover supercharged - hauling, towing, bad weather daily driver
3. Caterham/Westfield, some sort of sevenesque car - playtoy/track bitch.

Realistically we have:
1. Mazda3 hatch - practical, reliable daily driver
2. Land Rover Discovery - hauling, towing, bad weather daily
3. Miata - daily driver, track bitch, beater

My hope is to get a 911 for a DD/fun car, 1988 to 1998 Chevrolet full sized truck for truck / bad weather / project nonsense, and then somehow create a way to put highway pegs on my VFR (this won't be remotely easy or look non-garbage but we're talking hopes here) for the times when I can motivate sans cage, which is most of the time currently.

Something possibly smarter than a 911 but more of a project would be to find a rust free 1970 to 1974 Ford Capri (ha ha ha ha) and slide in an LS-type V8 and associated driveline but that would end up being a massive project.

I used to have a combination of vehicles just to keep a layering thing going on whenever one of them breaks down, I've pared down due to the economy. I only have two daily drivers: 940 turbo wagon and Ford Sport Track 4x4. I think I still own a 76 Ford Quadravan but I'm not sure lol! I left at a mechanic's shop and its been there forever.
