Remember the Hyundai Ioniq 6? If not, we don’t blame you, because we can count on one hand the number of times we’ve actually seen one out in the wild.
But here’s something that might attract a few more buyers: Hyundai dropped a slew of teaser photos that are confirmed to be the …

The current i6 has a Porsche 911-easque, slopped rear end. In these shadowy photos, I see a bi-level spoiler. Sort of whale tail like???
Instead of an N, wouldn't Hyundai at least consider giving this soggy-diaper boy a butt-lift? That beltline is tragic.
we really like our ioniq 6!

Agreed. Stylistically, Genesis is killing it but Hyundai keeps putting out dumpy car after dumpy car.
If the Elantra N didn't look like a malformed shark, there would be one in my driveway already
Matter of taste, once again. I think I like the Ioniq 6 even better than the Ioniq 5, which I like quite a lot. It's king of hard to gauge because they're so different. I see the 911 thing in the 6, but think Citroen DS might be even more apt.
I like them as far as looks go, anyhow, which puts the binders on well before exchanging money for one...
I'll say it again...
Stuff the Ioniq N drivetrain into the Veloster chassis and take my money.
Yeah, as a certified French car weirdo this speaks to me.
The 5N is cool. I think having it in not-an-SUV will be cooler. But, I still think $66k is just way too much for this.
The Elantra N is such a good value at $34k but the Hyundai EVs just don't seem to follow the same value playbook. The Tesla Model 3 Performance costs $56k; I think Hyundai needs to be undercutting the price of that car, not asking $10k more than it.
Guess I've been living under a rock, I wasn't aware there was an Ioniq 6. Just the fact that someone's manufacturing a sedan instead of an SUV is encouraging in itself, making a sporty version is even better.
In reply to Andy Hollis :
The other day, I saw two Velosters in tandem on the highway. Were they together, or was it just a coincidence? We may never know. But, yeah, bring back that body.

And give it 2 doors on the driver's side.
I have still never seen one in real life, but these photos look sick.

The Veloster N was on my short list behind the BRZ and ND Miata before I ordered the BRZ in April '22.
I just didn't want to do another "high" HP FWD, so I never test drove one. I had a 2010 MazdaSpeed 3 I bought new and kept until about 16k miles. It was a handful and fun. Would have been even better AWD and another 50 hp.
Brightening the photos adds a few more details:

It certainly looks like the front end is going to look similar to the current Sonata:

For some reason, I liked the odd door placement. It made it unique. Of course, I never tried to put anyone in the back seat....

Did you ever try to park next to another car? Mile-long doors suck.
That side shot sure looks like you can still see the skateboard pack and they didn't do carve outs for footwells to reduce roof height like VAG has done on some of their sedans.
Reminds me of an Infiniti J30 but pumped up.
Count me in the camp that digs the Ioniq 6.
An N variant wasn't on my bingo card, but I think it's awesome they're doing this. It likely won't be a sales hit, or potentially even a big money maker, but they seem to be treating the N brand with legitimacy, which aids Hyundai's standing and credibility in the long run.
Eventually people stop saying "yeah but it's a Hyundai". The Elantra N made a lot of people take notice, and the EV N cars seem to get a lot of people's attention as well if the internets/social media/forums are any indication.
I've just never been a fan of that big slopeback look on sedans. Was it the CLS or something back in the mid-00s the first modern one MB did?

They refreshed the Ioniq6 for 2026. Here's the official photo of the "N Line", which is probably a very similar body kit to the full "N":

Ah, that makes sense. I must have missed that.

Colin is over here hacking to get us the details haha.
These things look like someone took a 1998 VW Beetle. Added two doors. Squished the the headlights but inflated certain parts of it. It reminds me of a beluga whale
