Does anyone know if Kentucky region SCCA and/or NCM's monthly autocross program will require me to have a roll bar to run my '97 Mustang convertible? The car is getting a roll bar eventually but I want to know if I can get away without one for an event or two.
Not sure about those particular groups, but generally speaking, roll bars are neither required, nor helpful in autocross. 70 or 80 pounds of metal waaaay above the roll center does crappy things to the handling. Learned that from my old NA Miata.

If that's the case I can definitely think of better places to put money and effort into this car.
KYSCCA board member here. Good news, no roll bar needed for autocross events!
Getting out on the road course would require one, though.

Great. I knew I needed one for road course work. Looks like you'll probably be seeing me and my ugly Ford some time this season.

I hope to see you out there! I’ll be in the dick beige metallic c5.
