My tire guy, who I mostly trust, is pushing the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring. I can't find any reviews on enthusiast boards, which may be my first warning. They are going on my daily beater, a 06 Malibu LT. They are for daily driving; nothing fancy and I run snow tires during the winter, so it’s dry all summer and wet and cold in spring and fall, here in the Pacific Northwet.
Anybody know this tire? Thoughts?

I got about 70k out of a set of Cooper CS4s on our '06 RAV4. They handled everything well, rain, snow, etc. and the tread wear was very even (especially I didn't rotate them at one point for over 20k). I would recommend the CS4 for a DD, my guess is that the CS5 is just a newer version of the CS4.

Thanks dj and yes, the CS5 is the replacement for the CS4.

Bought them and they are surprisingly good handling (on a Malibu) and quiet on the highway. We'll see about durability.

Coopers used to be made in my town, so they were always first choice for local vendors to sell.
I've owned a dozen or so sets. They are a good utilitarian tire, with decent longevity. They are NOT a performance tire (but you weren't looking for that).
I have no specific experience with the CS5.
good tire have them on the saturn and very happy

Never having driven on Cooper before I bought a set of their RS3-A's for my DD Saab a month ago; so far I'm pleased with them. Gonna get a set of the CS5 Ultra's for our Prius next. In both cases the mfg rebates really lower the cost too. The Ultra's seem to have more features (Silica, Stabiledge, and LRR) than the CS5 Grand which might account for their softer treadwear.

I've never heard anything bad about the 4 for what you'd use them for, so the 5 can't be much worse.

I just ponied up (ouch) for four new Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring (V-Rated) in 225/55R17 for SWMBO's Grand Prix. They felt nice on the drive home and were smooth on the freeway.
