Anybody have a Corvette cold air intake installed on their car that can take some measurements for me. I installed a LS3 in my TR8. Throttle body points directly above my radiator, but there is only 3" or so clearance between the top of rad and the bottom of the hood. Once it clears this narrow opening, there is lots of room down in front of the radiator shrouding. Radiator shroud angles back at about a 45* angle with the top rearward of the bottom. Radiator air comes in below the front bumper and is funneled by the shrouding to the radiator. I have everything above the shroud for cold intake air. Original plan was to run a ram air scoop where the hood and front panel merge, but now that the rad is installed, I see a way of grabbing cold air without a scoop. Based on pictures I've seen of Corvette cold air systems, this may be my easy button. They start 4" round and then go flat and wide and then angle down to the k&N cone filter. How tall are they at the wide flat part, and what angle do they angle down from horizontal at. Can't tell from the Google images. As much as I like making things out of fiberglass and CF, I'd probably save money and certainly a bunch of time just buying one.... if I can make it fit.
At first I thought I could help with my 84 C4, it Had twin TB's with air channels through the hood underneath to the Air cleaner Housing. and though UN related, do you still have the heads from your v8 engine I have a buick 215 that needs a better set. Mum's the word.Lol
I have a garage full of Buick/Olds/Rover engines. Gave away a complete Buick 215 last weekend so I didn't have to keep moving it. I have zero use for any of the BuickOlds stuff. Not much use for the Rover 3.5 stuff. And ever since I went with the LS3, I'm having less and less use for the 4.0/4.6 stuff.
Darn, Feeling kinda stupid right about now, Bragginig about Buying one and all. I wanted it for the fiero I am buying from Pimpn3(former challenge car) to use in this years challenge, already put down a deposit.
So....... have you got a good extra set of heads.

The factory c5 ones neck down to only about 2.5" tall where they cross the radiator, they get fat there to make up for it. I'd start there. Not sure on the angle, but it sounds similar to what you're dealing with. A google image search for c5 air intake will net you tons of pictures
Google images is how I discovered those fresh air intakes. I need to hit a cruise night and look at some Vettes. By good heads, do you mean useable good or back from the machine shop good. I have several greasy as removed Buick 215 heads. Where do you live? If your local come grab some.
Let me say we don't get that much Snow DOWN here, No I am in N. Georgia. Better than stock, it has some heads with them but "Greasy". Met a man Saterday with a Morgan +8 and he has some Rover heads, But I can't buy more to find out they are no better than stock.I've looked through D&D online info But don't see what I want to Know, I don't want to Jack your thread But Obviously could use your Help.. Heck yes I would drive a couple Hundred Miles for Parts But can't drive a couple Thou. May could Pay for Freight They are pretty light. you are welcome to pm me though or I can send Phone number.
