Clean 1980 fj40for sale. Asking $53,900.
When I was in the market for an FJ40 to replace my pickup I inquired about the gas mileage of the old 2F engines. I was told "well, you probably wont pass much traffic, but you wont pass many gas stations either"
With the prices that stuff like sambas are commanding, it's not really surprising that this kinds thing is happening too.

Good Grand Wagoneers have had stupid prices for the past decade. In 1998, A restored one was $25K.. from this guy.. http://www.wagonmasters.com/inventory/... A $50K price dosen't surprise me there.
Yeah, I cbeck out Wagonmasters now and again. I'm hoping they'll list one and accidentally move the decimal point 3 places to the left. Then I'll pounce

Yep. Crack-pipe? Maybe. Surprising? No. I doubt he'll get his asking price, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he did based on auction results from the last few years.

I don't understand the love though.. The brooks stevens body is awesome.. The electrics were made in the 80's(yikes) by AMC(double yikes) and designed in the 70's(super yikes). Also those are the worst versions of the amc 360 ever made. All the cubes and 150-170hp?

San Dumas high school football rules.
If anybody wants to get in on the ground floor I'll sell them my 87 4Runner for only $45,000. I missed out on the early 911 spike. I sold my 72 in 2003 for $5000

I'm with you on the motor, but mid-80d V8s are digs no matter what. The only electrical issue I had with mine was a wonky window regulator. It was also a very comfy ride, looks GREAT from any angle, gets respect everywhere, and is the best snow vehicle I've ever owned.
Off to CL to search for waggies...
The later electronic controlled carbs were downright Terrible. The window regulators go like crazy.
I guess it's nothing a 5.3 ls and a painless kit can't fix.
I just bought my 90 Grand Wagoneer for 3k. I'm in the process of refreshing things. While I love it and don't think I'll ever get rid of it, I couldn't see spending 20k+
I think that it's a little crack pipe to list it on Craigslist. He would probably get better results (depending on area) by posting it on Autotrader or Cars.com.
According to my Sports Car Market magazine, that's not out of line for a fully restored FJ40. A few have reached into the 70's, although between 40k and 50k seems more the norm.
Personally, I've found that Autotrader is absolutely worthless for individuals selling cars. Maybe it is OK for dealers, but I've never received any interest in the cars I've listed there. I generally list them on Craigslist at the same time with the same information and they cars sell from there. Autotrader is pretty expensive, too.
That's the direction they've been going for a while. I hope they keep on going up, cause I've got a nice one. I'm gonna be rich!
