As someone who has raced an ITC Mk I Firsta my advice is to run, run away fast, don’t look back and keep running. While a great car for the mid 70’s it has far far too many shortcomings to consider.
But what about with a modern 1.6L FiST motor swap?
How about an Acura IMPREZA?

Yes please. I'd prefer a white example, but this one is VERY fine indeed.
(I'd never noticed the parking brake on these was on the exterior side of the driver's seat, no in the center of the car)

I've got a thing for GTI's of this era and this one looks rust free. Interior is trashed though.

I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it.
This is so wrong, yet so right. I keep opening the ad. I have owned both a Roadmaster wagon, an El Camino, and now building another wagon with all sorts of custom sheetmetal work, so I don't know anyone better than myself to finish this job. Plus I need a tow vehicle and already know how to work on these...if it was under $1,000 I'd probably already have it.

Corvair Midgets were cool but heavy, the VW's were faster.
The big AutoCraft VW's were the bomb!
You could hear the difference on the track, the big motors would thump like a Harley while the little ones sounded like an inline 4.
USAC bitch slapped them with cubic inch restrictions, just like the Cosworths.
Some Midgets were powered by outboard motors Evinrude & Johnson won races, might have been the first aluminum motors used in Midgets besides an Offy or a Drake.
Drakes were modified Harley Knucklehead motors!
Putting a Midget on the street is not really feasable because of the clutch and transmission. You'd have to add 6 or 10" to the chassis to make room. And maybe an automatic because there is no room for a third pedal.
Definitely not Challenge money, but interesting... Never seen one of these on a ZR1 before.
Don Johnson would love it!
