CL guy said:the overall proportions and width to height ratio [of the smartcar] are such that when large vehicles, such as the honda civic or mini cooper, pass on freeways, the car feels as if it may topple over
This is an epic family-tale moment that will be talked about at EVERY family gathering.....
I think someone told someone not to buy it in the first place...
A true CL Classic
The MR2 almost sounds interesting, but all he really tells you is how insulted he will be if you don't offer enough for it (tho no idea what that amount is) and while the car's parts are wonderfully described, no mention of color...or more importantly MILEAGE...or did I miss that?
If he wants more than $1K but it has 200,000+miles on the odo....that might be a stretch.
Title says $2k, and the first line of the ad says 201k
rust free imports form the 80s around here are rare, and in drive-homeable condition, even more so

Tell me about it. I live in North Central Ohio. And I happen to love 80's Jap cars, which makes it no fun in searching for local stuff. My 89 Crx Si is getting close to being almost rust-free. Finally found a mint door to replace my rotted one
I hear ya...and I want an AE86, 70s Celica, or a Datsun 510 BAAAAD
whos got 2 thumbs and cant ever ever evvvaaar find a project without selling organs?

U-haul trailer rental was $60 for 24-hours for an "in town" rental - you return it to the same depot you rented it from.
Trace out 10 hours of drive time away from your house. Start lookin'. Even if you spend $500 in fuel (we did $300 in a Durango) then it's still worth not having to screw with rust. Plus, you usually end up saving money compared to buying something in similar shape locally, assuming it even exists.

I found a 1978 Celica not too far from me. This might not be what your looking for, but thought I would tell ya: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/1949104371.html

Dang. Now you have me looking at 70's Celica's. I didn't know they had such a muscle car look back then.

I've got an '80 Celica coupe. It's in Dallas currently. 66k miles, but hasn't been driven in about four years. Previous owner lost his license due to old-age related eyesight issues. Only photos I have are of the day I brought it home.
Both these CL ads are praisewothy. The guy selling the Smart needs to learn about capitalization, but otherwise he should be writing for (said in big, booming voice) Late Night TV. Maybe even for Ronco..., but the guy with the MR2....Ahhh, maybe just a little delusional. 2K for 201k miles? Did I read that right?? Nah, can't be.
Anyone else notice the "cheap commuter bike" in the smartcar ad looks like a Specialized S-works Stumpjumper? Like $5k worth of bike.......
funny stuff, but aren't they only $14k new anyway?
Dammit. I think I should just live as a hobo, buy me a truck and a trailer, and drive places and buy good cars.
