Considering that over the last 3-4 years Dover International Speedway has spent a lot of money removing about 50,000 seats that they spent a lot of money putting in, I don't see the "no spectators" thing being a huge issue.

They should take this opportunity to introduce the next chassis. Make it work with limited practice.
Other than the Coke 600, the other races don't have the length of the race stated. Has anyone seen anything about it?

I like this direction.
One day event. Truck, Xfinity and Cup same day.
Drivers meeting on the frontstretch at the flagstand. Drivers draw lots for heat race starting spots.
Trucks: Two ten lap heat races to set starting spots for 35 lap feature. No pit crews. Flat tires get changed in the infield at your transport.
Xfinity: Two ten lap heat races to set starting spots for 35 lap feature. Pit crew of four. One on the box, three over the wall if needed. No fuel, only replace flat tires.
Cup: Two ten lap heat races to set field for 50 lap feature. Same pit crew rules as Xfinity.
Caution laps count, no overtime.
I'm thinking 2.5 hours of TV time to get this in.
Thoughts?

A full field of cars going around and around to the left for a couple hundred miles should clear the dust , debris and some of the weeds out. No practice, just let them loose and see how it goes. I would actually watch the race if they raced at Wilkesboro in its current state. At a normal oval track, I am not really interested. I know what it's like to be in a traffic jam on the interstate. I don't want to sit on my couch and watch a higher speed version of that.
I have a feeling there would chunks of asphalt flying within a few laps if they did that. Those surfaces need to be maintained, especially if you are going to put 3600lb race cars on slicks on them.

Slap it on a resume and apply to NASCAR
T.J. said:Time to dust off North Wilkesboro and Rockingham if they want to stay close to CLT. Those only ~1.5 hrs away. Bring these tracks back into the mix.
Where are you located? Im in Winston, so both are right at 1.5 from me (or less)
In reply to ross2004 :
I ain't watching no races where the length is measured in Kommiemeters. They can keep them Wednesday night races. Next thing you know they'll have them running clockwise.
In reply to hybridmomentspass :
Oh, I meant those tracks were about 1.5 hrs from Charlotte. I'm over closer to Wilmington, so nothing it that close to me.
In reply to T.J. :
On Dale Jrs show the head of NASCAR said they are picking tracks they can do as day trips so everyone goes home at night and has less of a chance to pick up or spread anything.

Well you ain't gonna like the '98 Coca-Cola 500 then. Better start writin' angry letters to them organaizers to stop'em before... oh wait...
can we have Figure eight races too ? the crossing can be where they need to jump over the other car at the "cross road"
or the wall of death maybe 1/4 mile around ?
OK.....probably not but going in circles (ovals) for 2-3 hours is so "Last decade"
In Holland they raced DAFs backwards around the track , DAFs had belt driven gearboxes and were real fast backwards !
In reply to boxedfox (Forum Supporter) :
They've used Kilograms for several races. I think Riverside then Sears Point both were listed that way.

Dear Mr. France,
I didn't know that France meant French for Kommiemeters, had our grandpappies not bailed you out we'd be racing VWs, Audi's, Porsches, BMWs and Benzs and turning who, what and where types of ways. Do you know that after that war Japan was so scared of us that they didn't dare produce a vehicle that made more than 286hp for nearly 50 years? And Honda still won't make a V8. Sure some of that might be ability, but it's mostly fear. Have you ever thought about having a race at COTA Mr. France? Yeah, it has right turns as well, but we could have a BBQ sauce, or Texas Pete sponsor the race and hearing dem big V8s go up the hill into turn 1 would be something. How are you gonna have a track called "circuit of the Americas" and not have Nascar at it Mr. France.
What's the address? Physical only, I don't do email or mess around with dem computers.

This gives me flashbacks to the 1/4 mile dirt track I used to go to.
I like it!
